I kind of agree and disagree at the same time with the main post and most of the comments. On one hand, it's a big mistake that people evangelize clean architecture combined with DDD and CQRS. People start to think they are the same thing and they aren't. On the other hand, most of the comments I see on that Reddit thread come from people that think software architecture is about the number of projects you have in the solution and how you split files. You can have the same degree of coupling even if you write everything in one project. And it's equally bad. You can have low cohesion even if you place everything in the same project. You can still have high cyclomatic complexity even if you place your code in the same project. Last but not least, I think newer developers underestimate the benefits of some clear architectural patterns: they were invented to solve some problems. It's true, most of the patterns we follow today were invented 20 years ago and we might not have the exact same problem set anymore. But suggesting 100 lines methods (like in one of the comments) it's for sure not maintainable code and it's also not readable. You can still have high coupling, low cohesion, high cyclomatic complexity even if you put everything in a one-project spaghetti code. On the other hand you can still write a full-blown Clean Architecture software in only one single project.

Last Thursday we had a Knowledge Transfer session at Dekimo Experts Delft. Of course, we started with a nice dinner and drinks. I had the honor to give an introduction to the C4 model. At the beginning, the group was split up into 3 teams. They selected a project and created software design diagrams. That resulted in some nice drawings with boxes 🎁 and arrows ➡ in all kinds of variations. The nice thing about the C4 model is that you can visualize your SW architecture simple and understandable way on four different abstraction levels.
