I'm thrilled to announce the successful completion of the Financial Trading Program (FTP) at TTC Institute, a comprehensive journey that has significantly broadened my understanding and expertise in financial trading. This program, spanning three semesters and ten specialist modules, has provided an extensive education in financial markets, asset pricing, trading, risk & money management, market analytics, and fintech. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. David Norman , Principal at TTC Institute, whose invaluable guidance and unwavering support have been pivotal to my learning. I also extend my gratitude to my colleagues for their camaraderie and shared insights, and to Queen Mary University of London and the School of Economics and Finance for their exceptional educational environment. Throughout this programme, I have mastered the use of the Bloomberg Terminal, enhancing my skills in data analysis, market research, and risk management. 🤗 So proud of my #mcf class of #2023! Marco Piludu, Peiting Wang, Ersagun Sayin, from the SDA Bocconi #Master in #Corporate #Finance, #class of #2023, accepted to develop a study proposed by European Investment Bank (EIB) on the analysis of the interest rate spikes in FY 2022 and 2023, and on the related impact on the #European #Banking #System. ➡ The focus of the analysis has been set on the 38 most relevant #financial #institutions in the #Euro #Area. Specifically, the perimeter has been agreed to include the biggest financial institutions in the top 5 European economies by GDP (i.e., Germany, France, Italy , Spain , and the Netherlands). The #value of aggregated #assets under analysis is ca. 21 trillion EUR. This corresponds to almost the entirety (ca. 97%) of the #total #banking #assets available in the countries of scope, and ca. 71% of the total assets available in EU. 🏦 The interest rate spike was significant ( 4%) in the short time period analyzed. This has generally positively impacted banks’ P&L statements. On the other hand, the balance sheet situation in the cluster under focus shows a mostly negative assessment. However, #European #Financial #Institutions are strongly regulated at all levels and the actual flight risk, or bank run , is quite minimized. As the current situation is, with inflation numbers going down in the whole Euro area, the expectations around further ECB spikes in the short term are bearish. Considering that the status quo for the European banking system is incredibly solid, and profitable, no catastrophic scenario is expected. 🔝 The study was very appreciated by #EIB and our #mcf #graduates have been invited in the Luxembourg headquarter of #EIB to present more in details their analysis and to evaluate the opportunity to further elaborate and publish their results! 🙏 My big gratitude to my students, to Fulceri Bruni Roccia, Guido Bichisao, and Stefania Carraro who promoted the idea among our students, to Florence Biro, Milena Stevanovic' and #Cristian #Petre from #EIB, and to our #Faculty #member Stefano Bonini, PhD, who masterfully guided our students. 🎯 This is only one of the results we got in the last three years with the #Master in #Corporate #Finance. Today in Brussels we held an event to mark the launch of AFME’s 6th CMU Key Performance Indicators. We welcomed keynote speaker, Marcel Haag, Director of Horizontal Policies at DG FISMA, European Commission. Mr Haag highlighted how the AFME report will complement the work of the Commission in monitoring progress towards reaching the objectives of #CapitalMarketsUnion. He noted that progress towards completing CMU actions is still quite fragmented for many reasons, most importantly due to long and difficult legislative processes, as well as the uncertain economic environment and rising interest rates. The fact that Europe is still heavily reliant on bank-based funding, rather than market-based funding is also a limiting factor. Therefore, Mr Haag highlighted the importance of the link between Banking Union and CMU. He also emphasised the importance of fostering retail participation and increasing financial literacy, as well as the contribution from the industry to achieve the CMU’s goals and to secure the competitiveness of the EU. He concluded that CMU remains a long-term project, embedded in the overall EU policy agenda as a structural change to the current framework. Therefore to achieve CMU objectives, there is no silver bullet and we have to stick with a holistic approach. From the Commission’s standpoint there is no contradiction between top-down measures (at EU level) and bottom-up ones (domestic decisions). however, it is crucial that domestic provisions comply with internal market rules. Many obstacles can be removed at the local level (e.g. lack of financial literacy, reform of pension systems, taxation), which would help progress towards CMU. Therefore, EU policymakers encourage a combination of both approaches.

Credit education works! During #NationalCreditEducationMonth, we are excited to publish the results of a new research report about OneMain’s exclusive Credit Worthy course, Build: Credit Fundamentals. The research, developed by EVERFI, shows that not only did the course fill a critical gap in knowledge, but students achieved comparable gains in their financial understanding, regardless of socioeconomic background. I had the privilege to participate in the National Financial Literacy Quiz organized by NISM in collaboration with SEBI, and it was truly a rewarding experience. The event not only tested our knowledge but also provided invaluable insights into the world of finance and investment. I am ecstatic to announce that Radhakrishnan Swaminathan and I, representing SRCC, participated in the National Financial Literacy Quiz'24 conducted by SEBI in association with NISM, consisting of four rigorous rounds spanning over a period of 8 months, securing #rank1 in the Northern region, #rank3 in the semi-final round, and #rank4 in the national finals (missing the 3rd rank and 2nd rank by 10 and 20 points respectively). Throughout the quiz, we delved into various aspects of financial literacy, from understanding the basics of investments to navigating complex financial instruments. It was inspiring to see participants from diverse backgrounds come together to enhance their understanding of financial concepts. The questions challenged us to think critically about financial planning, finance, economics, Current affairs, risk management, and the implications of market dynamics. This experience reinforced the significance of continuous learning for staying financially savvy. Moreover, interacting with industry experts and peers further enriched the learning experience. The discussions sparked during the quiz highlighted current trends and best practices in financial management, offering valuable perspectives that can be applied in both personal and professional contexts. I am grateful to National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) and SEBI for organizing such a significant event aimed at promoting financial literacy among individuals of all ages. It serves as a reminder of the importance of empowering ourselves with financial knowledge to secure our future and make informed financial decisions. I look forward to applying these insights in my journey towards financial well-being and continuing to expand my knowledge in this critical area. The key learning is to be calm and composed during these competitions. Even if you have studied day and night, it doesn't matter if you are not composed during the competition.
