After a couple of days in the stunning city of Bergen, I am on my way back home to NL. I have attended the #kick_off meeting of #RamonCO, representing EBN B.V. as one of the industry partners. RamonCO is a research project which has been submitted under the first #CETP call with the aim of establishing a risk-based framework for assessing #CO2_storage #monitoring: https://lnkd.in/ehf5G3nV I have always been a big fan of the Skandinavian countries, so I tend to be a bit biased by nature, but I believe all participants will agree that our host at NORCE Norwegian Research Centre and project manager of RamonCO gave us a very warm welcome. Many thanks, Kirsti Midttømme! It was fantastic to meet so many experienced and highly motivated partners from research and industry joining from Europe and the US, and to watch how plans and strategies were made to achieve the main objectives of the project. Not surprisingly, it turned out that we all have similar (if not to say the same) questions when it comes to #monitoring of #CO2_storages. I strongly agree with the project team that collaboration on an inter- and transdisciplinary level will be the key to success. It’s all about getting the #bigger_picture and applying scientific results to real world problems. So, then I think about the current situation in the Dutch part of the #North_Sea, where many different activities (e.g. fishery, shipping, hydrocarbon E&P, wind power generation etc., and soon also CO2 storage) are #co_existing, not too far away from the busiest port in Europe. I then ask myself: Why not putting all the competitiveness aside for once and strive towards #strong_collaboration within, but also beyond the CCS sector where monitoring is an undeniable part of the game?   My personal view might be a bit naive, but I still trust that bringing relevant stakeholders together - so we can learn from each other - will be beneficial for all of us. At some point we have to realize that we are all working towards the same #long_term_goals and that reaching them (#climate_ambitions) will only be successful if we #join_forces. #CCS #EBN #energytransition
