Tip of the Day: How to Stand Out at a Conference with Hundreds of Vendors ➡️ Offer snacks, especially when lunch is not provided ➡️ Require people to say hello and tell you about themselves in return for a snack ➡️ Find out more than just their name, company and position ➡️ Find out what they're working on, why they came to the conference, what they are hoping to achieve ➡️ If they are open to it, go deeper. Find out who they are as people. Why do they do what they do? At the end of the day, no one wants to talk to a used cars salesman. Connect with people as though they are people, and not just opportunities to sell. 💡 People work with people they like. Space is a potent incubator for biotech and medical R&D. I've been amazed this year from what I've learned about the breadth of what's possible to research and develop in microgravity - from microbiology to astronauts as test subjects, to medical manufacturing on-orbit. Just some examples have included: - New and safer medical implants, such as antimicrobial material development and the ability to manufacture purer materials - Medicines and countermeasures for diseases related to bone and muscle loss - Research into metablism of cancer cells, development of new antibiotics and pharmaceuticals (often leveraging that crystals grow larger and more pure in microgravity, and cell metabolisms are affected too) More here: https://lnkd.in/euaJhxwt It was fascinating to learn more about Australian activities in this area during an Aussie delegation to German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the European Space Agency - ESA earlier this year. And with the great capabilities Australia has in biotech, medical manufacturing, medical research, remote medicine and other life sciences occurring down on Earth, we have the potential to benefit in many ways from doing more in and through space too.
