💚Exciting strides towards a nature-centered future!🌿 At the recent BIONEXT Project workshop in the sunny dunes of Schoorl, stakeholders, including our Head of Nature-Finance at 2DII, Samia Baadj, gathered to design pathways for a thriving, nature-positive Europe by 2050. Building on last year’s visionary proposals, participants crafted inspiring storylines for transformative change. Key pathways include:  1️⃣ Nature for Society: Reconnecting citizens with nature through sustainable policies and innovations.  2️⃣Nature for Nature: Prioritizing nature's intrinsic value, promoting compact living and sustainable practices.  3️⃣Nature as Culture: Empowering local communities to harmonize living with nature, respecting traditions. Next steps involve translating these visions into actionable plans, with a focus on justice. Finally, the #ENVforum 2023 Conference on "Empowering Innovation in Asia & Europe: SMEs at the Core of Circular Transformation" started today in Brussels. 2 days of dialogue and discussions, 70 participants from about 30 Asian and European countries, 4 international partner organisations, 2 local partners. Ambassador Toru Morikawa, #ASEF Executive Director, opened the event at the Press Club Brussels. Read some of the thoughts of his Welcome Remarks and well-wishes for the participants and the meeting. “It is essential we make fundamental changes in our consumption and production patterns, including by transitioning to responsible and sustainable economic and business models and by strengthening scientific, technological and innovation capacity. In view of the importance of SMEs in our economies and societies, it is indispensable to work together to bring about such changes. As we engage in discussions over the next two days, I hope these exchanges between Asia and Europe will not only facilitate dialogue and bi-regional networks, but also show practical examples of the best practices for SMEs to accelerate the green and circular transition. Last week, I had the special chance to give a voice to our team (Luca Rampini, Edoardo G., Lorenzo Merlino) and present Atmosia on 5-6 October at the ENHANCE Summit on Climate-Neutral Cities at the Politechnika Gdańska in Gdańsk, Poland. This summit, organized by the ENHANCE Alliance, an association of ten leading Universities of Technology in Europe, stood out for its collaborative spirit. Traditional academic distinctions were set aside, fostering a dynamic where students, researchers, professors, and rectors collectively addressed the pressing climate challenges of our time. This synergy highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation in advancing solutions. Atmosia, conceived following our success in "Challenge 2: Enhancing the use of artificial intelligence in university administration" at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), aims to harness real-time environmental data with AI-driven forecasts. Our objective? To provide communities with actionable predictive insights, optimizing strategic sustainability decisions. Managing such a complex project on a pan-European scale poses its challenges, but each phase offers invaluable insights and growth opportunities. I express my gratitude to the ENHANCE Alliance for curating this experience.
