https://lnkd.in/gfpWv4Yf This is the long awaited government response to the Bishop James Report. Having read it I still cannot understand why it has taken six years. It is good that the government has signed the Charter. Some early adopters of the Charter included the CPS and several FRS. The Police Service only adopted it a few months ago. There is a huge amount of disappointment that the Charter has not been adopted into law. I would say that all organisations need need to ask themselves the question - 'what does this response mean for us'? Hopefully some expert opinions will be made public about the implications for the Inquest process. One example is felt by those that are bereaved by railway accidents (including those, for example, at level crossings). They often see an a real inequality of arms at Inquests. I have found that the level of knowledge of the Charter is poor among police officers and the realisation that the way they approach public inquiries and interests needs to change. I will write more on this elsewhere. #hillsborough #publicinquiries #inquests #majorincidents Tony Thompson Institute of Civil Protection & Emergency Management (ICPEM) Emergency Planning Society The EPS

This agreement allows the City to request assistance from any participating party, including FDEM, during major or catastrophic disasters as defined in section 252.34, Florida Statutes. It also ensures reimbursement for any aid provided by the city to others. Safety and preparedness are top priorities, and this agreement strengthens our ability to respond effectively in times of crisis.

https://lnkd.in/gNBnMsM4 The Niagara region is looking to increase its wholesale water and wastewater rates charged to lower-tier municipalities by 7.15 per cent annually for the next decade in order to keep its older facilities running. Before we start charging residents more to live in Niagara, how about we start by using the property tax dollars that are currently collected in a more responsible manner. Niagara has 12 separate lower tier municipalities and an upper tier municipality. We waste millions upon millions of dollars on the administration of government services here in Niagara. Why does Niagara need 13 CAO, 11 fire departments, 2 fire dispatch services, 13 finance departments and many many more examples of duplication in the way we administer government services here in Niagara which some have calculated, could save Niagara tax payers 25 million per year if we were to fix this issue. Niagara needs a paradigm shift in the way we look at government services here in Niagara and use the current taxes being collected in a more responsible manner before increasing fees or asking other levels of government or taxpayers to pay more. #timeforchange

Through previous studies and planning efforts at the city and county levels, the County Road 42 corridor has been identified as a candidate for enhanced transit service, providing an important east-west connection between Scott and Dakota Counties. Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) is leading the County Road 42 BRT Study to identify feasible and community-based alternatives for implementing BRT in the County Road 42 corridor. The findings from this study will serve as a basis for decision-making and guide the next phase in making BRT along County Road 42 a reality.
