In times like these, our hearts ache for the communities that are grappling with the devastating impact of the ongoing fires. It is during these challenging moments that the strength and resilience of communities shine brightest. We are grateful to be in a position to offer support and assistance where we can. As we extend our hand to help those affected by these fires, we also call upon our government and authorities to step up their efforts in addressing the increased demand for resources, aid, and assistance. The impact of these fires is far-reaching, affecting countless lives and the environment that sustains us all. It is imperative that we work together to implement comprehensive strategies that not only provide immediate relief but also focus on long-term solutions to prevent and mitigate the devastating effects of such disasters in the future.
🌱 Coming together for our community 🤝 We all know about the devastating fires that have ravaged the Northeast Communities, which have issued mass evacuation orders leaving many displaced. In light of the devastating toll on our neighbouring communities, we teamed up with Sysco to deliver over 50,000 lbs of food and supplies to the Okanagan and surrounding affected areas. Our delivery included all sorts of foods: sweet corn, oranges, avocados, tomatoes, and essentials such as eggs, yogurt, milk, cereal, peanut butter, and even canned salmon! We're also shipping out supplies for the little ones, making sure families have access to diapers and formula. From our Burnaby warehouse, the food and supplies have been taken to Kelowna to redistribute to other food banks, including the Central Okanagan Food Bank, Vernon Food Bank, and Lake Country Food Assistance Society. And let's not forget our brave firefighters – this support also extends to them, honouring their incredible efforts. 👨🚒👩🚒 A heartfelt shoutout to Sysco, who generously redirected their resources to provide a 53ft truck and a dedicated driver. This means fresh and frozen products get where they're needed – fast.
