In their collaborative endeavours within the men's behaviour space, Comunicare has praised WACOSS for their consistent engagement in celebratory behaviour and utilisation of power and control tactics. This association, however, exhibits bias by unfairly excluding Aboriginal Community Controlled Organizations (ACCOs) such as the Aboriginal Males Healing Centre (AMHC) from opportunities to deliver culturally appropriate, trauma-informed residential healing and well-being services for Aboriginal males in the Pilbara region. The lack of inclusion has resulted in Communicare's establishment of a monopoly in the residential men's behaviour change sector in Western Australia through its "breathing space" program. Simultaneously, WACOSS continues to offer steadfast support and advocacy. It is foreseeable that the influential standing of WACOSS and Communicare as powerbrokers with the current government will secure substantial funding for the "breathing space" program while numerous ACCOs, such as the AMHC, struggle to obtain support. The prevailing stereotype perpetuates the notion that Aboriginal men eschew tea consumption and that black male leadership is often misinterpreted as "angry," even though our passion is primarily focused on addressing human rights violations. Furthermore, when we assert expertise on objective and subjective matters, we are unjustly labelled as "emotional and toxic." These actions are indicative of the utilisation of white vulnerability tactics to stifle and discredit black male knowledge while simultaneously positioning white female and male individuals as the ultimate authorities. Establishing environments that facilitate uninhibited self-expression and recognition of individuals for their expertise and contributions is a pivotal step toward fostering a more inclusive and just society. Through candid discourse, education, and advocacy, we can confront preconceptions and endeavour to comprehend and honour the varied experiences and identities of all individuals. Open dialogue, education, and advocacy are indispensable tools for confronting biases and embracing diverse human experiences and identities. Through these concerted efforts, we can strive towards a society where diversity is not merely tolerated but actively celebrated.
This morning, I attended a morning tea with Premier Cook and Minister Winton, and other members of the FDV Taskforce. Premier Cook thanked members of the Taskforce for their work and acknowledged that there is a lot more that needs to be done. The group talked about the importance of a lived experience working group that has been established, which is essential to centering the voices of victim-survivors if we are to make real change through policy development and service design.

This report highlights major cracks in most of our provisions, many of which we already see and deal with daily. The government wants our young people to stay in education, as do we as educators, but if they are young carers who live in poverty and struggle with poor mental health, with inadequate services in place, then how is that an option?? Proposals are great but they are just that; a few scribbled lines boasting false promises.
Today, the House of Lords Justice and Home Affairs Committee published an important report outlining proposals for making the most of community sentences. It includes evidence given by our director, Phil Bowen, and trustee, Courtney Bryan. Read it in full here: https://ow.ly/a0Zp50Qmnbc.

You know you’re screwed when your buddies at the National Review throw you under the bus. At least the reading public now knows that the Mengele brothers, dumb and dumber are the architects of the COVID-19 pandemic, something many of us knew for decades. In the comment section here, a 1992 cover of the New York Native says it all.

Co- Founder/President at Umbo and Co-Founder, Director at Unlimited Sciences a psychedelic research non-profit
Someone help me understand how MDMA is getting so much attention (in the PSYCHEDELIC space) while news like cities decriminalizing just flies under the radar? Maps has 37k followers on this platform and Decrim Nature has 87. I feel like I'm living in the twilight zone. Seems like all of the effort is to recreate the exact toxic pharma cycle TRUE psychedelics have the potential to relieve us from. I'm not opposed to the legalization of these substances. But it MUST come after the playing field is equal. How about this. Can we all agree that if 1 single penny is made selling these substances, then that substance can no longer carry criminal penalties (within reason)? As in, Lykos sells MDMA, now you can't get in trouble for using it on your own? Fair? Or should we treat it like cannabis and punish (mostly BIPOC) for the same thing others cash checks for? Don't worry, maybe these psychedelic corporations will have some sort or D.E.I. chapter where they talk about how important this is and do a little non-profit work one day out of the year to make up for all the arrests for the same things they make money for. #saltyAF #wakeup #mushrooms #psilocybin #mdma #whattheFamImissing
