Solutions for the energy transition through fiber composites... At this year's HANNOVER MESSE, Fanny :-) will be representing our work and results from the HANNAH research project. Together with our partners DLR - Institut für Systemleichtbau, Fraunhofer IWES, TECOSIM Group, Institut für Statik und Dynamik - LU Hannover and Zeisberg Carbon GmbH, we faced the challenges of the industrial application of nanomodified and hybrid material systems in rotor blade lightweight construction. Our fiber-metal laminate, Fanny, has a 20% thinner wall thickness at the same performance compared to a GFC-only solution. In addition, the manufacturing concept uses a fast and reliable infusion strategy. If you want to know more, get in touch with INVENT GmbH and meet Fanny at our booth D31 in hall 4. The project received funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). #compositetechnologies #solutionsforthefuture #lightweightengineering #composite #FML

🔋 Introducing the HighSpin Project! 🚀 Ever wondered how new battery technologies are developed for cars and planes? Let's break it down in this infographic! The four areas in which we are working: 1) Materials Development: We're making battery cells by combining LNMO cathodes with Si/C anodes and high-voltage (HV) electrolyte. 2) 3D Electrode Design: To balance energy and power, a 3D electrode design (multilayer coating laser structuring) is made 3) The 3D electrodes are assembled in cells customised for use in cars and planes. 4) Testing and Recycling: the cells and modules are tested, and two different recycling approaches are explored to recover and reuse the valuable materials. What's next? We are working on iteration 1 materials – new LNMO and Si/C candidates with tuned HV electrolytes. First pouch cells with these materials expected by end of the year. Stay tuned for more updates on our exciting project! ⚡✈️🚗 #HighSpin #BatteryInnovation AIT Austrian Institute of Technology Fraunhofer LBF CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency CIC energiGUNE Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) Pipistrel Aircraft CEA Saft CustomCells Arkema sensichips LEAD TECH srl Vianode Forschungszentrum Jülich Topsoe NEXTCELL project BATTERY 2030 BEPA - Batteries European Partnership Association

My name is Hicham Ghossein, Ph.D., founder of Endeavor Composites, Inc. We repurpose fibers into durable composite materials, ensuring sustainability with high-performance standards. We are a member of the Center for Composite and Hybrid Materials Interfacing (CHMI), an #NSF & #industry funded program. With the support of CHMI, we discovered a unique technology company named ThermaMatrix, Inc. ThermaMatrix, Inc. is an inspection solution that uses big data and photonics to measure an array of critical defect parameters of products such as chemical storage tanks, rail tracks, and plane parts. These rapid and cost-effective photonic methods provide comprehensive insights during R&D manufacturing, or in-service inspections, and enhance the safety and reliability of storage tanks for combustible fuels. This precision technology identifies potential issues such as cracking and delamination. Together we are focused on a safer form of #hydrogenstorage . CHMI was instrumental to this partnership, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and technology. Challenge/Solution Gas storage faces significant risks due to the limitations of traditional storage inspection methods. Endeavor addresses this challenge by delivering homogenous, isotropic preforms using safe, low-cost, zero-waste long fiber nonwovens for the inner layer of the storage tank. Other composite fibers are used for the exterior layers of the tank. Industries including aerospace, power generation, automotive, railway, and semiconductors stand to benefit from our work. The global hydrogen storage market is projected to reach $6.7 billion by 2030. Endeavor Composites is at the forefront of creating a circular hydrogen economy. CHMI members include John Deere, Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차) , Hexcel Corporation, and IACMI – The Composites Institute. Together we quickly transition from basic research to commercial applications. Members shaping the future of hydrogen gas storage safety, unlocking possibilities for a safer, more sustainable world. Ahmad Anas Alkezbari, research associate at the Chair of Automotive Drives at Universität der Bundeswehr München and part of our team at MORE, is giving us some insights into his research activities on the development of a new ignition spark model: “The combustion characteristics of a spark-ignited engine is significantly affected by ignition and the simulation models must appropriately capture this feature. Developing novel engine concepts, such as hydrogen engines that operate at ultra-lean or engines that use pre-chamber spark plugs, requires a thorough comprehension of the ignition phenomenon in order to enhance simulation models and achieve reliable ignition.” Several experiments on the topic were conducted in association with the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences.
