The past two weeks we have had valuable interaction with our friends from the United Kingdom. Jeroen van Wijngaarden participated on behalf of DUFAS in the Anglo-Dutch bilateral financial services dialogue. This took place at the residence and embassy of HM ambassador Karel van Oosterom. We have discussed the importance of speaking with one voice as a financial sector and our common challenges such as the quest for talent. Many thanks to Nick Collier and City of London Corporation. Today, we had the pleasure of meeting the Lord Mayor of the City of London and his delegation in our office in Amsterdam. We discussed the importance of generative artificial intelligence and the evolution of ESG policies. DUFAS vice chair Maureen Schlejen-Peeters MBA was also present at this meeting. Maintaining interaction with other countries is essential, as many of DUFAS's members operate across borders. It is important to learn from each other. This exchange has significantly contributed to a stronger collaboration between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom in the field of financial services. We look forward to future collaborations and further strengthening our ties.

BIO - the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO) is attending the EDFI annual meeting in Oslo to collaborate with other Development Finance Institutions (DFIs). They believe by sharing knowledge and working together, DFIs can address global challenges like climate change and inequality, while supporting Ukraine and promoting sustainable development through the EU's financial framework. #developmentfinance #EDFI #sustainablefinance #togetherwecan
The European DFIs - EDFI netwerk of #developmentfinance institutions gathers in Oslo for the annual meeting. As CEO of BIO - the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries I find it extremely valuable to share insights and analyses and discuss joint strategies to increase our #impact. The polycrises international environment, how to decrease inequality, the fight against climate change, our support to #Ukraine and the EU sustainable finance regulatory framework are top of mind. Because only by working together we can truly invest in a sustainable future and create change on the ground in our partner countries.

🔔 Yesterday our #expert Kevin Turpin, Regional Director of Capital Markets for Central and Eastern Europe participated in the panel discussion on “FDI in CEE: Risks and Opportunities” at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The debate organized by #ABSLPoland was held by the Three Seas Initiative, which is a platform for improving connectivity and collaboration between 12 EU member states located between the Baltic, Adriatic and Black seas. Here are a few takeaways from Kevin: ✅ There is the need for Central and Eastern Europe to look urgently at energy diversity ✅The real estate market and its various players should immediately employ their strategies to enhance efficiency in energy usage and the sources from which it is taken ✅Sustainable energy, reliable and competitively priced energy sources are key to retaining and attracting new FDI in the CEE / Three Seas region ✅Collaboration in this area could potentially lead to more rapid developments and prosperity for all. The panel, expertly moderated by Henry Foy of the FT, was an experienced and diverse line-up of: Jaroslaw Kroc (Managing Director Accenture CEE), Tony Housh, President American Chamber of Commerce Poland Jayee Koffey, member of BNY Mellon’s Executive Committee Pawel Nierada, First Vice President of the Management Board at BGK Agnieszka Orłowska, VP ESG ABSL Poland.
