There is lots happening in #DTJax, improving one step at a time!

This morning, we celebrated the opening of Downtown Jacksonville's newest park: Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing Park! The park, designed by renowned architect Walter Hood, pays homage to the remarkable Johnson brothers and includes: • A sloping lawn adorned with coquina letters that spell out "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing" and a misting feature to keep park-goers cool on hot days • A restored shotgun house • Performance stage with permanent benches made out of coquina • Shade trees and beautiful landscaping that outline where previous homes stood during the time of the Johnson brothers • Art installation, "Calling it Done" by Brian Owens-- the newest edition to the city's Public Art portfolio, and made possible by the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville. Thank you to the City of Jacksonville, JaxParks, the Jessie Ball duPont Fund and and all who were involved. This park will be an asset to the entire Jacksonville community for years and generations to come!
