🌈 Recognising Pride Month at Global Maritime Forum! 🌈 The maritime industry, like any other, thrives when its workforce feels safe, supported, and valued. Unfortunately many diverse employees experience challenges to feel included, and LGBTQ professionals often face unique challenges and barriers in the workplace. To overcome the global talent shortage and ensure a vibrant future for maritime, we must create inclusive environments where everyone can be their true selves. A sustainable and innovative maritime sector depends on diversity, equity, and inclusion across all levels—both at sea and onshore. By promoting these values, we not only enhance our industry but also safeguard the well-being of all maritime professionals. At the Global Maritime Forum, we're dedicated to fostering workplaces that recognise and support the unique challenges faced by all employees, including LGBTQ individuals. By raising awareness and advocating for the rights of all seafarers, we aim to ensure that also LGBTQ maritime professionals can work without fear of discrimination and be their genuine selves. This Pride Month, let's champion inclusion and work together for a more equitable maritime industry! 🌊🏳️🌈 

LGBTQIA Inclusion: Recognizing and validating diversity within the community, ensures that all identities are acknowledged and respected. Visibility: Naming different identities, helps to increase awareness and understanding of various sexual orientations and gender identities. Support: Foster a sense of belonging and solidarity among individuals who might feel marginalized or excluded because of their identity. Advocacy: Serve for advocacy, help to promote equal rights, combat discrimination, and address issues specific to each group within the community.

Happy #Pride Month to the #LGBTQIA community! At Pure Storage, we’re celebrating the "Month of Love" with education, events, and allyship and I can’t be more excited to see what our Pride employee resource group (#ERG) has in store. As Chief Diversity Officer at Pure, I’m so proud of all the work that our ERGs do to promote inclusion and belonging at Pure. It’s just one of many reasons that makes Pure so special.    How can you be a better ally not only during Pride Month, but throughout the year? Assess yourself. How are you showing up? Are you an #inclusive team member or leader? Ask others. Do you use inclusive language? Ask others. Have you shared your #pronouns and encouraged others to do the same? It’s these little actions that can add up and make an impact.  As said by John F. Kennedy, “There are risks and costs to action. Celebrating Pride Month with Commitment to Allyship. At VELUX we believe in fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can be their authentic selves. In celebration of Pride Month, we hosted a global event on June 17th titled "Learning how to be an inclusive colleague: LGBTQIA edition" where we discussed how to "break the cycle of silence" and promote open dialogue and understanding about the LGBTQIA community. The event, attended by about 140 colleagues from many different countries, featured an inspiring opening speech by our EVP for People & Organisation, Iben Schmidt Helbirk and speeches by DEI experts, Ashley Williams from Pearn Kandola LLP; and Louise Marie Genefke and Nikoline Nybo from Inclusify. Participants left with a deeper appreciation for diversity, stronger interpersonal connections, and practical strategies for being inclusive colleagues. Here are some of the takeaways from the event: Avoiding open dialogue about the LGBTQIA community perpetuates biases and limits understanding. Meaningful conversations are crucial in normalising diverse ways of living and being a family. Also, there are various roles you can take to be a good ally, including: ◾ Understanding the lived experiences of LGBTQIA individuals ◾ Challenging assumptions ◾ Practicing introspection ◾ Educating oneself and others ◾ Taking action against inappropriate behaviors We are committed to breaking the silence, educating ourselves, and supporting one another. Together, we can create a more inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive, develop, and perform at their best. As we’re coming to the end of this Pride Month, I wanted share some thoughts. Above all I’m here to learn how I can best support my LGBTIQ colleagues. 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈 And this was a key focus of our recent leadership panel discussion on allyship. During this session, we discussed topics including the needs of colleagues in different regions, the importance of psychological safety, and how to drive tangible action on LGBTIQ inclusion.   One action we’ve taken recently is reaffirming our commitment to the LGBTIQ Standards of Conduct for Business by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).   In line with this commitment, it’s my goal to ensure that the voices of LGBTIQ colleagues are heard, that their needs are addressed, and that everyone can be their authentic selves. Not just in Pride Month, but all year round.   I want to be a CEO of a company where everybody feels they can be themselves. Where you can be ‘you’, and where we are united for progress — creating a safe space for all, celebrating diversity, and staying curious about each other’s experiences. Fostering inclusion in the workplace is crucial to establishing a culture where everyone feels they belong and can thrive. It not only acknowledges diverse perspectives but actively uses compassion and understanding to empathize with others' experiences. When we feel like we belong, and can bring our authentic selves to work then we're more engaged, feel a greater sense of wellbeing and perform better. Equity and inclusion is always front of my mind in my daily life, no more so than during Pride month. But what can you do when Pride Month is over?
