President of Enerlogics; Leadership in deployment of solar, energy storage, distributed generation, energy efficiency, demand response, and EV charging for C&I facilities.
Renewable Energy World reporting on utility scale agrivoltaics in Ohio. "Savion, a solar and storage developer, announced the start of commercial operation of Madison Fields Solar Project (MFSP) in Madison County, Ohio – a 180-MW, utility-scale agrivoltaics solar facility. The facility is Savion’s first project to be designed, developed, constructed, and owned by the company. Madison Fields Solar Project has also become one of the first operating utility-scale solar sites to intentionally integrate forage crop production within the array, Savion said. Savion’s wholly owned subsidiary, ‘Between the Rows’, is devoted to agrivoltaics, which prioritizes agriculture with land stewardship and dual-use land practices. This effort to led to a partnership with The Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, which includes actively testing and growing forage crops, including hay and alfalfa, along with soil health, precision agriculture, and complementary grazing between the rows of solar panels." "When people think of #Iowa, they think of cash crops like corn. It's what we're known for. They often overlook that Iowa also leads the nation in harvesting non-traditional crops: the sun and the wind. We produce and sell #energy to neighboring states, making #renewable energy another cash crop for Iowans." More: https://ow.ly/pm6k50Rxqmh #solar #ruralenergy

Agrivoltaics alone could surpass EU photovoltaic 2030 goals🎯 Combining farming and solar photovoltaic electricity production – known as agrivoltaics - on a mere 1% of EU utilised agricultural area (UAA) could help to surpass the EU’s 2030 targets - 720 GW direct current - for solar energy generation. 🧐Read the article here👇 https://lnkd.in/eAmGWdvA #agrivoltaics #sustainableenergysolutions #RenewableEnergy

Renewables and farming can be a perfect match. Greg and Tim are landowners and neighbours in Gannawarra Shire, Victoria. Greg’s farmland hosts the 60 MWp Gannawarra Solar Farm, developed by Edify Energy, the first utility-scale solar farm to be constructed in Victoria. It is also integrated with a 25 MW energy storage system. Tim’s land is soon to play host to a battery to help firm the renewable energy supply in the area. Renewable energy developments can provide consistent, drought-proof income to supplement farming activities, and traditional farming can continue around renewable energy infrastructure. Agrisolar (solar farming) is a real opportunity for Australia to embrace the clean energy transition, making joint-use of agricultural land and bringing benefits to landowners, farmers and local communities. I'm a massive believer in the power of language - and the importance of considered story telling. There are so many advocates in community for the clean energy transition - and there are so many genuine opportunities and benefits to be realised in particular in relation to shared benefits, and long-term reliable incomes. In particular, for our important farming communities, as they face challenges in productivity and revenue as a direct result of our changing climate - a true understanding of the opportunities available for them is key. While many countries are led by government on the messaging behind the need for, and opportunities associated with the clean energy transition - the unfortunate politicisation of the transition in Australia (a direct failing of the short-term focus of western democratic systems) means we need others to lead that messaging. How lucky we are to have considered campaigns by the Clean Energy Council to counter the noise. The more positive examples we can share, the better, so that the message on benefits is loud and clear and can combat that noise, which will not prevent the change, but will muddy the waters, cause angst amongst communities, and turmoil for (inevitable) progress - all to the benefit of policital games.

Bayer has announced the installation of a 2.7 MW solar and 1 MW energy storage system at its vegetable research and development (R&D) site in Woodland, California, to provide 70% of the site’s electrical energy demand. According to the company, Bayer’s vegetable R&D site develops healthy vegetable varieties through new solutions that achieve a more sustainable harvest, including more efficient irrigation and fertilization, companion cropping, and increased carbon dioxide removal. The solar installation, completed in partnership with Enel North America, occupies 10 of the 210 acres of company-owned property. The system utilizes ground-mounted solar panels capable of generating nearly 2 MW of electricity. To complement the solar array, Bayer also installed a bank of batteries to serve as excess power storage, which will be used to offset evening peak power demand when solar generation decreases. Located in a region historically prone to rolling blackouts and grid disruptions, this solar-plus-storage system will increase Bayer’s energy and operational resiliency while reducing the company’s carbon footprint and demand on the local energy infrastructure. During the solar project’s estimated 30-year life, Bayer will also plant flowering cover crops, such as wildflowers, between the rows of panels to create pollinator habitats and for soil remediation purposes.
