Exactly one month ago, we concluded our first public and community health posting. Throughout this experience, I gained profound insights into humanitarian services. While medicine, in general, falls under humanitarian work, community medicine is more focused on "prevention" rather than "cure/treatment," adhering to the adage "Prevention is better than cure."
During the posting, I realized that only a small fraction of the population can afford to consult a specialist. This raises concerns about the majority who can't afford such services. Community health workers step out of their comfort zones into communities, ensuring access to standard healthcare and living conditions. Many venture into rural areas where basic amenities are lacking, administering vaccines to eradicate epidemics.
One topic that deeply resonated with me was "street children." From the scarcity of street children in the 1800s to over 100 locations in Lagos where they are found today, the situation is disheartening. Many proposed solutions and eradication measures seem impractical in Nigeria.
🔘Can we envision a future where not a single child lives on the streets?
🔘Is it feasible to provide for all street children?
🔘What measures can be taken? I'm open to ideas in the comment section. Meanwhile, I thought of an idea. I recently wrote a book titled "Teens and Things," which delves into every aspect of an adolescent's life, guiding them through tough phases to become responsible citizens. Statistically, a significant percentage of street children become major miscreants due to neglect and ignorance. With this book as a guide, I believe they can make better choices, find strength to overcome this phase, and strive to become valuable members of society in the future.
You can access a copy of the book for the street children in your neighborhood by clicking the link below.

Remember, even though they are street children, they have the same rights as you. Extend your love to a street child to assist the government in their welfare.
