I've never posted here. I'm the type that likes to stay behind the scenes, read posts, hit the like button, and sometimes comment. I finally finished a project that has taken a bit to complete. Although it was challenging, the delay in completing it wasn't because of the challenge but because of my doubts. Doubt #1 was confidence in my writing ability, and doubt #2 was thinking there wasn't value to what I wanted to offer. I used affirmation, prayer, and reflection to overcome the stumbling blocks. It's still a work in progress, such as fearing failure and putting myself out there.
The project I just finished is the publishing of my first book. It's for dental hygienists who would like to become educators. It includes little information nuggets, professional development activities, and other resources to guide success. This book will help new educators understand the challenges and expectations of clinical instructing.
If you want to become a dental hygiene educator, you can find the book on Amazon. The book is titled Dental Hygiene Educator: A Workbook for Success. One challenge I still face as a dental hygiene educator is the paperwork/grading involved in the clinical setting. What is one thing you wish you knew before you started your career as a dental hygiene educator?

8moThe outdated dental education establishment is more focused on teaching the “outdated standard of care,” risk management, and after graduation from dental school it is all about dealing with the “All for Profit”insurance industry for majority of dentists who easily get trapped as in network dental providers⁉️ A huge crowd of insurance dentists end up going after the same insurance subset of patients triggering an “unending race to the bottom.” Amazingly the corporate dentistry is also increasing it’s share in the rat race to bottom by targeting the same group of patients⁉️ As a “Fee for Service” dental provider who is free from dictation from third parties you can not only go way beyond the insurance dictated standard of care, but also spend enough time with patients with lots of caring, empathy, and understanding about their valid concerns, giving them the best available dental care building long term trustworthy dentist-patient relationships!👏👍🏼
