I’m not a fan of Halloween. Primarily because I don’t like the concept of fear. Of being afraid. Or more frankly: being scared.   Goblins and ghosts don’t scare me. But overcoming real life challenges has frightened me to no end in the past. When my son was born seven weeks early and given a 50-50 chance of survival, that was scary. When my starter husband divorced me and left me faced with financial ruin, that was scary. When a company I had toiled for decided my services were no longer important to our communities and wanted to summarily dismiss me, that was scary. But in each instance, I stared down the fear and overcame the goblins with a mixture of faith, intentionality, and God. The three frightful moments in my life that terrified me were the times I also recognized I had to lean into other people for help. With my premature son, it was the doctors I had to count on. With my immenient financial ruin, I turned to my parents for a safe place to roost and restore. My fear of being displaced prematurely well, it was my current husband and a lawyer who erased that fear. My point is: in none of the scary opportunities that I faced did I go through it alone. So if there’s something out there scaring you today (using your own definition of fear), please don’t try to tackle it alone. I am here for you. I've been in scary situations before and turned them into successful learning experiences. Today, my son is a confident, working actor, a strapping six feet six inches tall. No telltale signs that he was a miracle baby weighing less than five pounds when he entered this world. I went from facing financial ruin to owning multiple homes, luxury cars, putting my son through college without a penny of financial aid and taking vacations to exotic places. I left corporate America and successfully launched my own coaching and consulting company and get the privilege of providing support for others during their most scary moments. I'm here. Eager to lend my support.
