Maritime Administration (MARAD)’s Post

U.S. Maritime Administrator Ann C. Phillips met with Mr. Victor Luna Barahona, Dean of the International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP) to discuss topics of mutual concern including mariner welfare, efficient workforce development and training programs. They also discussed the importance of the constant flow of skilled and readily-available mariners. The meeting included a campus tour, including the Center for Simulators and Applied Technologies for post-Panamax ships and other laboratories that complement the students' competencies.

Excellent. I wonder if Ms. Phillips is aware of the six (6) Maritime Academies in the US.
