Happy #NationalVideoGameDay! 1 donor can save 8 lives. Be a #DonateLife hero every day and register your decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor at RegisterMe.org or in your iPhone Health App ๐๐๐ฎ
Today is ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ฒ, and there are so many ways to share with generosity, kindness, and love for others. You can donate money and other resources to charitable organizations of your choice.
Better yet, you can also decide to give life or enhance the lives of the sick and less fortunate with the ultimate shareable resource - your body.
Today there are over 100,000 people in the United States waiting for life-saving organ transplants. According to Donate Life America, one donor can save up to eight lives and improve the lives of more than 75 others.
There are a couple of easy steps you can take in the spirit of giving:
1) ๐๐๐ญ ๐๐จ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ - If you haven't already you can make a note to register with your local motor vehicle registry when you apply for, or renew, your driver's license or state ID card. This will cover your donation desires and make your lasting gift available at your state level.
2) ๐๐๐ค๐ ๐ข๐ญ ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ - Join the over 10 million people who've gone national with their donor commitments. You can register in the National Donate Life Registry atย ๐๐๐ ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐๐.๐จ๐ซ๐ , or in yourย iPhone Health App. Your registration will be shared with your state's donor registry, so you will be confirmed and registered to donate in your state as well. There are some added advantages to being part of the national registry:
- You can register to donate specific organs and tissues, or you can choose to donate all of your organs and tissues.
- Your registration is accessible to donation professionals across the country, so your wishes will be honored no matter where you are in the United States.
- You can update your registration information at any time.
3) ๐๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐๐๐ซ B๐๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ซ - According to the Organ Transplantation and Procurement Network, an average of 17 people die every day while waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. You can learn more about the various options for living donation through organizations like the
However you choose to give today - or any day of the year - just know that the most precious of gifts are right there within you.

How to track your periods?
There are two main ways to track your periods:
-Manually: This can be done by marking the start and end dates of your cycle.
Information such as flow of periods or last date of intercourse can also be
recorded.
-Using an app: Another option is using an app. This can be more convenient
and can provide more information, such as period length, ovulation window,
and reminders on the upcoming menstrual cycle.
After tracking your cycle for a couple of months, it is easy to measure your average cycle length, which is the number of days from the start date of one cycle to the start date of the next (generally 21-35 days).
Tracking your period can be help you to manage PMS symptoms, identify cycle
irregularities, plan activities, and keep a tab on your fertile window (ovulation usually occurs right in the middle of two cycles).
If you have any concerns about your period, be sure to talk to your doctor.

Below's post summarizes why I wanted to start Go Long. Some good dialogue in the comments. I wanted to offer a perspective on how you can combat the symptoms of #perimenopause.
Many of the symptoms of perimenopause are due to a decrease in estrogen.
The TLDR is the form of estrogen you used to produce a lot of has now flatlined. So you're continuing to do the things you've always done and you don't know that the hormone that you used to be your partner-in-crime is no longer playing along.
As a result, you may have night sweats, mood swings, increased belly fat and a host of other WTF symptoms.
Most women focus on cardio. It's what worked for them in the past to lose weight and feel better about themselves. What cardio doesn't do is help you prevent sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass) and osteopenia (loss of bone density and precursor to osteoporosis).
The problem is that we all peak in muscle and bone at roughly the age of 30. And the way to stem the tide of losing both is via resistance training. Losing muscle and bone are what preclude many people in retirement from doing the things they always wanted to do (i.e., playing with grandkids, travel - as I like to say, "Rome is not ADA friendly").
I talk with clients about adding by subtracting. Stop with the endless cardio. You're better off doing something like sprint interval training (e.g., 20 seconds hard, 10 seconds recovery - repeat 6x-8x - after you properly warm-up and do a cool-down after) to go along with the resistance training (i.e., Olympic lifting with a barbell, dumbbells/kettlebells, pilates).
You want a program that has a combination of:
- Compound movements like squats, lunges, deadlifts and push-ups. They target multiple muscle groups at the same time because that's how you move in real life.
- Functional movements like planks, step-ups and farmer's walks. They help with grip strength, stability, balance and coordination - think fall prevention.
- Progressive overload, which means you're safely and gradually increasing the intensity, volume, or difficulty of exercises over time to stimulate muscle growth and adaptation. You can do this by going heavier, adjusting repetitions and sets, or varying exercise tempo aka 'time under tension'. I talk about what that means here.
OK, don't know where to start in looking for a program. That's where Go Long comes in.

So, perimenopause is basically the hormonal rage of my teenage self, combined with 45 years of lived experience to accurately direct that rage.
Cool, cool ๐ซ
Whoโs building & investing in the tech surrounding this? (Disclaimer: if itโs 3 white dudes getting $200M for a menopause-suppression app idea, thatโs where ๐ฏof the rage will be directed! ๐)
