Everyone deserves to feel safe and comfortable at work.
Politics and religion are intrinsic to people's sense of identity and belonging. Beliefs held that strongly tend to be polarizing if two individuals don't agree. In the workplace, it's vital that everyone can coexist peacefully.
Forcing everyone to align with one belief on either topic is bound to cause friction, and the ability to coexist diminishes. There's always space for learning, growth, and acceptance. But not at the expense of someone's values.
Great work, Illinois union leaders.

Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers is our Catholic Social Teaching focus for this week of Lent! This teaching emphasizes the value of work, and promotes fair labor rights that every worker deserves.

While #laborday traditionally marks the end of summer, the video from the U.S. Department of Labor provides a well-produced and succinct history on this national holiday and why it is important.
Since the EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA) is the North American trade association for the #EIFS industry and depends on professional applicators to install the product, this day is also extremely meaningful to our industry. Helping companies attract and maintain “Best In Class” EIFS applicators is one of EIMA’s three primary strategic initiatives, and this story from Walls & Ceilings Magazine describes the overall strategic plan https://lnkd.in/eUyhZn2M .
Consequently, we are very pleased that leaders from our industry’s major contractor and labor groups - including Todd Lair from the Operative Plasterers' & Cement Masons' International Association - OPCMIA, Michael Stark, CAE, IOM from the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry (AWCI) and Mike Chaney of James River Exteriors - are active members of EIMA’s Workforce Development and Education Working Group and supporters of EIMA.
To promote quality application, installation and maintenance of #EIFS, #EIMA strongly recommends that #EIFS projects be installed by applicators who have attained one of AWCI’s “EIFS Doing It Right(R)” designations. Members from all of the aforementioned groups participate in AWCI’s educational efforts, and more information can be found here https://lnkd.in/gVUNg2ah.
Additionally, EIMA encourages interested parties to learn about OPCMIA’s extensive EIFS training opportunities (including the EIFS Doing It Right(R) program) through its International Training Fund and Job Corps program that can be accessed here https://lnkd.in/gwDFNKUF
With proper installation and proper training, today’s EIFS looks better, performs better and has more architectural flexibility than it ever has before. And with the ever-increasing demand of building #sustainable buildings that address #climatechange and #housingaffordablity, there never has been a better time to consider EIFS for a #newconstruction or #retrofit project.
EIMA thanks everyone who helps create beautiful, sustainable, durable and high-performing EIFS buildings, and you can see for yourself here https://lnkd.in/dhKKnSv. Happy #laborday2023#eima

(Killer) Mike Render for Atlanta Mayor, 2025
Prior to his triple Grammy win for "Michael," Michael Render, known as Killer Mike, showcased a potential political dynamism on Bill Maher's "Real Time." His discourse on reparations was not mere talk; it was a showcase of a dynamic rhetoric reminiscent of James Baldwin's sharp wit and narrative mastery, Barbara Jordan's unyielding truth-telling-to-power, and Bernie Sanders' unmistakable frankness.
Killer Mike’s rebuttal to Bill Maher's comparison of reparations to supermarkets—with a bold pivot to the marijuana industry—was not just a counterargument but a visionary reclamation. He sees this industry not as a concession but as a cornerstone of economic justice and prosperity for the Black community.
Render’s platform for Atlanta—and by extension, Black America—reads like a blueprint for substantial economic transformation rather than mere lip service:
- 🏘️ Attacking redlining and bolstering Black homeownership and financial literacy.
- 🌱 Securing Black leadership in the burgeoning marijuana industry.
- 💸 Championing economic reparations to empower the Black community.
- 📚 Enhancing access to trade and higher education.
- 🏦 Advocating for mortgage forgiveness to foster Black generational wealth.
- 🤝 Addressing historical injustices comprehensively.
This agenda is not just political; it’s a moral imperative, presented with a belly fire of passion that compels attention and action. Render embodies the convergence of charisma, credibility, and a profound commitment to societal uplift—qualities that could redefine leadership for Atlanta and beyond.
Go kill it, Mike.
