We had the pleasure to host Federal MP for Kingsford-Smith, the Hon. Matt Thistlethwaite MP and State MP for Maroubra, the Hon. @Michael Daley MP, along with Councillors from Randwick City Council, at our Malabar Biomethane Injection Plant with Sydney Water this month. The Malabar Biomethane Injection Plant is the first demonstration project in Australia to produce biomethane and inject it into a gas network. At Jemena, we know that as we move towards a net-zero future, Australia's energy sector is changing. So, as part of this change we are exploring how biomethane and other renewable gases can be delivered through our gas network to support our customers. “H2Carrier plans #PowertoX production of #hydrogen and #ammonia in Norway” April 23, 2024, - Aida Čučuk “Norwegian company H2Carrier has applied to the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) for the development of two large #onshorewindfarms in Finnmark County to produce #greenhydrogen and ammonia.” “The first #windfarm , Oksefjorden, will be located at the Skjøtnigberg/Nordkyn peninsula in the municipalities of Lebesby and Gamvik, while the second wind farm, Rubbedalshøgda, will be based at the Varanger peninsula in the municipalities of Båtsfjord and Berlevåg. H2 Carrier said that the plans have been developed in cooperation with the host municipalities who already have been formally notified about the company’s intention to start the planning work.” “The two wind farms have a planned installed capacity of 1,55 GW with an estimated annual production of 6356 GWh. The estimated annual production volume of green hydrogen and ammonia is 109,000 and 610,000 tons, respectively. A €3 billion #hydrogen pipeline from the Scottish North Sea to Emden in Germany could supply 10% of the EU's requirements by 2035. The Scottish Government and industry have funded the first phase of a Net Zero Technology Centre project examining the options for transporting #greenhydrogen by pipeline from Scotland to Germany. The preferred option is a new offshore H2 pipeline to Germany routed via the Danish and Norwegian sectors of the North Sea (see image and page 10). The project has received support from funding partners including Shetland Islands Council, EnQuest, Kellas Midstream, Crown Estate Scotland and Shell, The contributing members are Xodus, DNV-GL, Wood, Wood Mackenzie and Worley and strategic partners National Grid and SGN. The Government's Energy Secretary Neil Gray said: "The Scottish Government recognises the importance of developing hydrogen pipelines to unlock #Scotland’s export potential. We want to work collaboratively with partners across Europe to advance infrastructure which ensures security of supply in Europe and positions the North Sea as a centre for low-cost hydrogen production."
