🌟 Turning Overstock into Opportunity! 🌟 At Storch, we believe that what might be waste to one, could indeed be a treasure to another. Take for example our experience with overstock materials. We had been holding onto 12 skids of sheet metal drops for nearly five years. These pieces, of various shapes, sizes, and gauges, weren’t part of our regular usage. Instead of letting them go to scrap, we found a much better use! 🛠️ We donated all these materials to the local welding programs, turning potential waste into valuable educational resources. This particular donation made its way to Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan, supporting the next generation of welders and engineers. It's a perfect example of how businesses can support local communities and education by reconsidering the potential of their resources. The Texas Engineering Foundation (TEF), a 501(c)3 public charitable foundation, supports the engineering profession through several initiatives focused on K-12 students, college students, and practicing engineers. This auction is to raise funds for: • K-12: MATHCOUNTS and other programs that educate and encourage students to pursue engineering as a career. • College: scholarships to students pursuing an engineering degree as well as graduate engineering degrees. • Practicing Engineer: resources for training including seminars and supporting educational material development that promotes ethics for the practicing engineer. As Detroit-area students return to school, many are sitting at desks and chairs that were once part of General Motors’ campuses across the region.     That's because Green Standards has helped GM donate more than $1 million worth of these assets to more than 100 local nonprofits and schools in southeastern Michigan. Donations like this can allow schools to allocate resources toward programming rather than essential items such as classroom furniture and fixtures. This process can also help reduce demand for raw materials while avoiding carbon emissions produced during manufacturing and disposal.  To date, Green Standards and GM have diverted 7,122 tons of furnishings from landfill, achieving a remarkable 99.9% landfill diversion rate across all projects — a solid A .  #education #sustainability #circulareconomy #givingback
