We are pleased to announce we have been awarded an international tender from Brazil's National Oil Company, Petrobras - Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Vagas no Concurso Público para Engenheiro Eletricista) acting as operator of Atapu and Sepia consortiums, for the newbuild supply of Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels (#FPSO) platforms P-84 and P-85. Valued at approximately S$11 billion, these high throughput FPSOs will be deployed in the Atapu and Sépia fields located in the eastern part of the Santos Basin, approximately 200 kilometres offshore of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. The P-84 and P-85 platforms are part of Petrobras' new generation of FPSO platforms characterised by a high production capacity and prioritisation of sustainable practices with innovative technologies. With a production capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) and a gas processing capacity of 10 million cubic meters per day (Sm3/d), these FPSOs will incorporate advanced technologies such as zero routine flaring and venting, variable speed drives, and measures to control emissions and capture CO2. Construction for the P-84 and P-85 FPSOs will commence in the first quarter of 2025, with the final delivery expected in 2029. Japan’s #FPSO operator #MODEC has unveiled its new, mid-term business plan, covering the period from 2024 to 2026, which spotlights the Japanese player’s intention to further strengthen the profitability of its core FPSO business, strategically invest funds to decarbonize its FPSO units, develop new opportunities, and bolster its business foundation, including its human capital. The new chief executive has been appointed, and has outlined its vision to become the world’s best floating production, storage and offloading vessel company. Hirohiko Miyata , 62, currently Modec’s director and executive vice president, will be appointed representative director, president and chief executive on 27 March, replacing Takeshi Kanamori, who will takeover as chairman. In Modec’s new vision, outlined on Wednesday, the company aims to become by 2034 the “world’s best FPSO builder and operator, achieving the smallest carbon footprint alongside safety and high uptime”. #SBMOffshore is currently the world's largest FPSO company, with Modec in second place based on the number of owned FPSOs. The company currently owns and operates 15 large FPSOs and three floating storage vessels. It has just delivered the Sangomar FPSO, and is building three more large floaters Raia and Bacalhau for #Brazil, and Uara for #Guyana. The South American FPSO market is on the rise alongside the global FPSO market, which is estimated to reach $20 billion in 2027, based on a report by The Insight Partners. MODEC has been busy with new FPSO deliveries. One of the recent ones was confirmed in August 2023.
