A concept for new, 200 space municipal parking garage on Parker Avenue in Passaic was recently unveiled, a step forward in relieving parking concerns in the neighborhood of the new Muhammad Ali School No. 23. DMR’s design calls for a garage that not only meets practical needs, but also offers welcoming and engaging public space and a revenue-generating solar panel superstructure. #NJarchitects

Following City West Housing's approach to design outlined in our newly released Concept Design Guidelines, our upcoming development Tallowwood Apartments incorporates sustainability initiatives that minimise environmental impact and lower residents’ operating costs. Tallowwood Apartments will be our first building designed to be all-electric, reducing our reliance on natural gas/fossil fuels and our carbon footprint. Solar PV panels will be installed from the outset with technology that allows the energy generated by the building to be shared equally among residents, rather than going back to the grid, to help keep their electricity costs down. The building employs passive design principles to minimise the energy required for heating and cooling, such as a more heat-resilient light-coloured facade and double-glazed windows. https://bit.ly/480Vatx #AffordableHousing #BuildToRent #SustainableBuilding #SustainableDesign

DEVELOPMENT APPROVAL FOR STOKES 18 Stokes 18 is a ‘big cousin’ and neighbour to our own studio, Stokes 14. It transitions from the lower scale of the adjoining heritage conservation area to the emerging city centre of Green Square City. In a similar way to our studio, Stokes 18 runs off the energy that it produces, which is estimated to be 1.3 times its annual consumption. To achieve this, 400 solar photo-voltaic panels are integrated into the facades and roof and are coupled with battery storage. Concurrently, the building is designed to be very low energy in operation, which is achieved through energy-efficient fixtures and fittings, natural cross-ventilation, daylight harvesting and minimising AC. What is Passive Solar Design? Passive Solar Design captures energy from the sun to help heat and cool your living spaces, but uses no mechanical or electric equipment. Passive solar relies solely on building materials that reflect, absorb or transmit the sun’s radiation. #samtroughton #bayleysmatamata #altogetherbetter #realestateagent #realestate #home #property #househunting #house #waikatorealestate #matamatarealestate

The ecological footprint of the building is at the heart of our design strategy as we create comfortable living environments while minimizing energy consumption. Considering local climate conditions and building physics, our homes ensure thermal comfort using environmental resources. We create healthy, comfortable homes for the inhabitants while respecting the environment by sourcing smart materials, using renewable energies, and adopting building techniques that help to reduce energy consumption. All our buildings consist of high-performance thermal insulation facades, thermal glazing units with a low Ug value, shading systems on windows and verandas, PV panels on roofs, and energy-efficient heating and cooling devices. Dreaming of escaping the constraints of modern society? If losing out on luxury and comfort is keeping you from that dream, it’s time to consider a dome home instead. With their unrivaled efficiency, near-absolute security, and unlimited design options, concrete dome homes are ideal for off-grid living. They’ve been a popular choice for many homes already. And as renewable energy tech continues to improve, these domes are making it possible to maintain many of the comforts we expect in a custom home—all without hooking up to the power grid. Find out how you could create your own off-grid sanctuary with a concrete dome: https://lnkd.in/gFauZ5RU #OffGridLiving #ConcreteDomes #KingDomeBuilders

While designing #House, our team was driven by three main goals: Affordability, Zero-energy design, and Scalability. Elements of the zero-energy, sustainable design goal exist throughout the home, but they are most visible on the roof. #House features both a partial green roof and solar panels that assist with powering and cooling the home. The solar panels specified for our design are the EAGLE 72HM G2 panels. Produced by a publicly traded company, these panels have been the top selling panel in the country for the past four years. They are produced in a vertically integrated factory using artificial intelligence in its manufacturing. Further, the panels are designed to have a 25-year lifespan and have a special film and twin arrays that allow them to continue producing energy in shady/cloudy conditions or when they are blocked by debris. #House also has a carefully designed living roof system. Green roofs add a beautiful touch to a home and have many environmental benefits, but they can also delay water drainage and add significant weight to a roof, leading to increased structural costs. Our team found the perfect solution. A small stretch of living roof along the edge of the front elevation gives the appearance of a full green roof to anyone viewing the home from the street. The roof slopes down towards this living section, allowing the plants to still filter stormwater before it enters the drainage system. The living roof can also assist with pulling heat away from the home, and it acts as natural noise dampener. #House #vtmlsoc #sustainability #OCSD

I have heard a lot of people claim we can't deliver projects that are sustainable in a cost-effective way. This article helps debunk that. Please take a look and reshare!
