Healthcare design requires that we deliver not only a highly-specified functional environment, but that we also create an aesthetic that is both efficient for practitioners and comforting to patients. For multiple projects at St. Peter’s University Hospital, that meant focusing on the spatial experience, recognizing its impact on both services and healing. #NJarchitects

Who doesn't love walking into a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility? #Innovation in design for #HealthcareFacilities is the number one request of today's #MedicalStaff and patient. Debra Levin outlines some great points to consider as we look to integrate our senior living facilities with the changing times. 1. Challenging the current standards, belief systems, and solutions takes work, but we can't move forward without it. 2. The design and configuration of facilities haven't changed much time over. Architectural design has come a long way and should be incorporated into patient space. 3. For innovation to spark and grow, dialogue is vital. Let's ask the right questions and implement patient needs into designs. Our patients, residents, medical staff, and visiting family and friends need places and spaces that are user-friendly, welcoming, inviting, and make their jobs easier. #HealthcareDesign

Greetings, LinkedIn community! 👋 Recently, I had the unique opportunity to engage in a different kind of experience in Hospital! 🪟🏩 Have you ever considered the idea of window shopping in a hospital? While the concept may seem unusual at first, taking a stroll through the corridors of a healthcare institution can offer a unique perspective on the diverse services and advanced technology that contribute to our well-being. Intrigued? Allow me to share my insights into the fascinating world of HealthCare. 🌟 Hospitals are not just spaces for medical treatment; hospital visits are usually more purposeful, focused on health needs like comfortable waiting areas, contributes to a holistic understanding of the role environment plays in patient well-being. The innovative use of windows caught my attention, providing a refreshing take on the traditional hospital. These windows don't just serve practical purposes; they contribute to creating a healing environment. Window shopping in hospitals can include perusing informational brochures and educational displays that empower visitors with knowledge about their health and available healthcare resources. What struck me the most was a glimpse of these medical marvels and appreciate the innovation behind modern healthcare. Showcase cutting-edge technology that often remains hidden from the public eye. 🌺 Studies have shown that natural light can enhance your mood. Some modern hospitals have taken it a step further by incorporating healing gardens visible through expansive windows. The therapeutic benefits of nature are undeniable, and these hospital designs embrace this concept by allowing patients to enjoy scenic outdoor views right from their rooms. 💡Compassionate Patient care: Modern hospitals also revealed thoughtfully designed patient areas. From cozy window alcoves for quiet reflection to communal spaces with panoramic views, these spaces prioritize patient comfort and recovery. It's evident that architects and healthcare professionals are increasingly recognizing the impact of the physical environment on patient outcomes. 🌐 The adaptability of these concepts to the Indian context showcases the industry's commitment to creating patient-centric and culturally sensitive spaces. 🤔 As we witness these innovative approaches to healthcare architecture, it raises questions about the role of design in patient care. How can we continue to push the boundaries of healthcare design to create spaces that promote healing and well-being? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments! Let's continue to celebrate and learn from the advancements in the healthcare industry.... #HealthcareDesign #InnovationInHealthcare #PatientCentricDesign #Wellness #treatment #experience #IndianHospitals 🇮🇳🏥

From a healthcare provider's perspective, adopting a customer-centric approach involves dedicating additional time to ensure patients grasp their diagnosis and are at ease with their treatment plans. From her design experience, Associate and Interior Designer Christina DeAmicis, NCIDQ, has found that, "most people don’t want to go to the doctor's office." So, to address both sides, an opportunity exists to transform the doctor-patient interaction into a smooth and dignified experience. Here's an interview with Christina on her experience integrating the patient-as-customer concept into #design: https://bit.ly/3MIsLzt #healthcare #healthcaredesign #design

A healthcare designer’s goal is to plan spaces that provide an optimal user experience, whether that’s for the medical staff, administrators, visitors, or patients. Thoughtful design makes an important impact on a patient’s experience. People entering healthcare settings are often dealing with conditions that induce anxiety, so it’s especially important for their environment to be comforting and calming. Human-centered design (HCD) can make a huge difference in how patients experience healthcare facilities. HCD incorporates the user’s perspectives into the design process from start to finish. By centering the design process on people, healthcare facilities have a better chance of creating spaces that will resonate with their patients, reduce anxiety, and keep them coming back. #pickeringusa #healthcaredesign #userexperience

In our recent blog post, we dive into the history of hospitals and their journey from service-based care to comfortable, patient-centered environments. Hospitals are the most complex of all building types, both in their physical structure and their competing priorities. Healthcare architecture has been integral to the shift from functional designs that have persisted for centuries to more inclusive and service-based care. Did you know that Bestbath manufactures walk-in tubs for healthcare and residential? At the Healthcare Design Conference this week, we showed the RR7 Atlantic, a game-changer in patient comfort and care. Here's how it works: Fill the footwell with warm water. Have the patient sit comfortably in the tub. Close the door securely. Tilt the tub backward, allowing warm water to envelop the patient's body quickly. This unique design reduces the time patients spend feeling cold while waiting for the tub to fill. It's a small change that can make a big difference in their comfort and well-being.
