It's #GivingTuesday, and I happen to work for one of the most impactful #nonprofits in the United States. If you're not familiar with ReFED, I'll keep it short and sweet: we are on a mission to end #FoodWaste. How are we doing that? Through data-driven projects and partnerships across the #FoodSupplyChain. From growers to retailers to solution providers, our work takes place at the systems level, addressing the root causes of #FoodLoss and waste. Reducing food loss and waste can reduce #GreenhouseGasEmissions, reduce #Water and #Land usage, and help #feed communities. Like I said, ReFED work makes a real impact. But that work can't happen without the generosity of donors. Gifts of any size help us make the world a better place – for the people and the planet. Be part of the change and make a difference by supporting us here: https://lnkd.in/gT_P7u3Q

Passionate Advocate for Financial Empowerment | Dedicated to Uplifting Underserved Communities and Individuals |Spirit aligned in redefining purpose to make life changing impacts
The US is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, yet the wealth inequity gap continues to widen, the middle class seems to be disappearing, the cost of living expense increases is outpacing rise in wages, and, and, and... the list goes on. All of these "ands" are creating multiple levels of insecurity-- food insecurity, housing insecurity, education insecurity, wage insecurity. I know several of my friends Christopher Morris, CUDE, CCUFC and Mark Volz, CUDE, CCM who continue to give of their resources and time at these food pantries in Madison. What if each of us were for 30 days to give up "something" that we enjoy (i.e. Starbucks, eating out weekly) and instead donate either that money or goods in kind to our local food pantries? And then once you have figured out that you can probably do without one or two things of small cost in your life, continue to donate that money! Or even maybe go a day without eating anything and provide the money equivalent of meals for that one day to food banks and pantries...and oh by the way it might give you a small "taste" of what it is like not to have food to eat and how that impacts you not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Use the link below to see what the food insecurity looks like in your community. https://lnkd.in/e6HVa2GP FYI, In my small rural county in White County Tennessee, 16.3% of the population are food insecure- 4,480 people. #foodinsecurity #creditunions
It's been one week since a coalition of 36 Dane County food pantries released a letter to the community and held a press conference at the Capitol. We came together to sound an alarm about the rising number of people facing food insecurity and the need for both immediate support and longer-term solutions to the challenges of distributing enough food to meet the growing need. You can get involved in building a community where our neighbors don't have to experience hunger. Recognizing the urgent need to increase action, members of our Board of Directors are matching up to $100,000 in donations made before the end of 2023 to accelerate our water resilience strategies. We are calling on our community to help surge our impact in this next critical season of growth. Imagine the transformative impact on water we can have together.
