At The Ascott Limited, we champion diversity, creating safe spaces for our associates, guests, and partners to thrive. 🤝 Recently, in our purpose-led partnership with Accessible Accommodation, our associates at Quest Apartment Hotels took a significant step towards a more inclusive future. Addressing Burnout and Mental Health: A Call to Action for Senior Living In today's fast-paced, always-on work culture, burnout and mental health challenges are pervasive issues affecting professionals across industries - and senior living is no exception. As leaders in this field, it's time we take a hard look at how we can better support our teams and create a more sustainable, healthy work environment. Below are a few highlights Adam Kaplan of Solera Senior Living and I discuss: - Burnout is driving good people to leave the senior living industry in search of better work-life balance. We need to provide resources and tools to re-engage and re-energize our teams. - Prioritizing diet, fitness, and sleep is crucial. Employers should educate and empower team members to improve their overall health and well-being. - Boundaries between work and personal life must be respected and reset where needed. Senior living may be 24/7, but individuals need space to recover. - Leaders must engage directly with team members to understand the stresses they face both at work and home and provide proactive support. The costs of burnout are high - from increased turnover to decreased engagement to negative impacts on resident care. But with focused effort, we can shift this trend and create a healthier, more sustainable senior living industry that attracts and retains top talent. It's time we rally around mental health and prioritize the well-being of those who serve our residents so faithfully. Let's start the conversation and commit to real change. #seniorliving #mentalhealth #worklifeintegration #burnoutprevention #leadershipdevelopment #longevity #workboundaries #brainhealth
Here's a brief glance of Senior Living latest article: Lori Alford, COO of Avanti Senior Living, and Adam Kaplan, CEO of Solera Senior Living, are focused on the health and well-being of their senior living team members. In a culture where work-life balance and personal boundaries seem elusive, they are striving to improve their executives' lives and hope the senior living industry will join their efforts. https://hubs.ly/Q02yVhk60

At Pillars, our "Days Away" program is a cornerstone of our core values: curiosity, creativity, and community. This initiative is much more than just time away from the desk—it's an invitation to step outside daily routines and immerse ourselves in diverse experiences that fuel personal and professional growth. Throughout the past year, our team members have embarked on journeys across the United States and abroad. Each destination has offered unique opportunities to delve into subjects that pique individual interests and resonate with our mission at Pillars. For instance, some explored national housing reform, while others embraced the Danish concept of "hygge," studied the intricacies of transit systems in Mexico City, or investigated environments designed for the Creative Class. These travels are not just about seeing new places; they're about bringing back transformative ideas and applying them creatively to our projects. By engaging deeply with various cultures and innovations, our employees return with enriched perspectives that enhance our work and strengthen our community. At Pillars, every journey is a chance to learn and grow. We celebrate these experiences, which not only foster personal growth but also drive our collective quest for innovation and connection. Our workplace thrives on the curiosity and creativity that these adventures stir, making us more than just colleagues—we're a community that grows together. #JoinPillars #DaysAway #Curiosity #Creativity #Community

I missed our one year anniversary post because I was off the grid kayaking in the Adirondacks, one of the many advantages of determining your own schedule :) Other things that have been amazing about the past year: 👩🏫 *Getting to practice what we preach.* Setting clear expectations and goals, mapping our customers, understanding our value prop, experimenting constantly, focusing on fewer things at once, fostering healthy disagreement, creating an environment where we feel safe giving feedback, finding what amount of structure is the right amount for us, etc. etc. etc.! 🧗 *Learning learning learning.* I now know how to properly bookkeep, what an S Corp is, how to develop a sales pitch, concepts in modern marketing, and I got certified in doing what I love (which involved a ton of learning and practice). 👭 *Partnership* Working with someone else means constant navigation of the interaction of your own personal styles, patterns, values, and flavo(u)rs of spelling. But it's crystal clear to me now that what we can build together is so much greater than what we can build alone. I get so much more from our partnership than just the accountability, busy work buddy, and alternative perspective. Thank you Fiona Siseman for helping me learn how to be a better collaborator and for being on this journey with me.
🎉 Last week Frank & Eddy turned one! 🎉 Thank you to everyone who has chosen to work with us, and to everyone who has supported us along the way. You’re too many to name, but you know who you are. ❤️ A few highlights from our first year: ⭐ Our pilot of F&E Leadership Learning Labs... We had so much fun with everyone who joined these. Feedback has been extremely positive, and we learned so much! (Please DM us if you’re interested in hearing about our next iteration). 👯 Being a collaborative team... We challenged each other countless times, often inadvertently! Leaning into the tough conversations has helped us understand each other even more, and live our values of diversity and collaboration. 📹 Recording “Any thoughts?”... ... our ongoing conversations with Anna Hedlund and Behnosh Esni. It’s our antidote to all the advice out there and it brings us such joy. If you’re looking for advice, what you probably need is a conversation. 💡 Following what gives us energy... ...and hitting our (extremely modest) revenue goals quarter after quarter, supporting our belief that by being ourselves we’ll find the people that need us. 🛶 Feelings of flexibility and spaciousness... ...that come from working for ourselves. Work/life balance isn't perfect yet, but it’s getting there. We’re excited for this next year with y’all!
