This short video is a poetic demonstration about what Allyship is not. Allyship is a lifelong process of building and nurturing supportive relationships with underrepresented, marginalized, or discriminated individuals or groups with the aim of advancing inclusion. It is NOT stepping in and speaking “for” the group in which you do not belong. When we do that, we further alienate and reduce their power. It is a fine line between speaking up, speak on behalf of, and speaking instead of. Let’s be mindful not to take someone’s voice in an attempt to be supportive. Instead, invite voices to the table and don’t replace them with your own. Makes spaces for other voices to speak and be heard and be respected. That’s the definition of inclusion. Now, check out the video.

This Memorial Day, we reflect on the origins of this solemn occasion, honoring the lives lost in battles throughout history. From its inception in the aftermath of the Civil War to its global significance today, Memorial Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom and justice. As we pay tribute to the fallen, let's also consider the importance of integrating Memorial Day into our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. Recognizing the diverse ways individuals experience this holiday fosters a sense of belonging and understanding in the workplace. Let's honor the past while building a more inclusive future. #MemorialDay #WorkplaceInclusion #InclusiveLeadership #DEI #LeadershipEvolution #DiversityEquityAndInclusion #Diversity #Culture #BeyondInclusion #BeyondInclusionGroup #WorkplaceCulture
