During the meeting, discuss your achievements in detail. Highlight specific examples of how you’ve exceeded expectations, contributed to the company’s success, and taken on additional responsibilities. Use metrics and quantifiable results whenever possible to make a compelling case. Remember, your goal is to demonstrate that your performance and contributions warrant a salary increase.

It's essential to schedule the meeting at an appropriate time. Consider your company's financial health, recent achievements, and the overall market conditions. Choose a time when your manager is likely to be receptive, such as after a successful project or during a performance review period. Timing your request thoughtfully can make a significant difference in the outcome.

When it comes to practicing your pitch, preparation is key. Rehearse what you plan to say, focusing on your accomplishments, contributions, and the value you bring to the company. Be confident but also open to dialogue. Practicing with a friend or mentor can help you refine your approach and anticipate potential questions or objections.

It’s crucial to do your research. Understand the market rate for your position by looking at industry salary reports, websites like Glassdoor, and salary surveys. Knowing the average salary for your role in your geographic area can give you a solid foundation to justify your request. This data-driven approach shows that your request is based on facts, not just personal desire.

That raise request-prep is everything. As HR, I've seen too many times when people only get raises as part of counteroffers when they suggest leaving the company for something else (which, as we all know, is never the most ideal scenario anyway). But rarely have I seen people approach conversations with their leaders thoughtfully, and with data to back it up Ana.

Except not all roles can get huge raises we both know that yet they should get cog adjustments This is why most people wind up with two hard choices entrepreneurship or beating the head against the wall job seeking

All these tips are 🔥 🔥 . Don't go in cold! Don't mention needing a raise for a factor that has nothing to do with performance, like because you need new siding on your house.

Making a business case for why your raise will further benefit the company is by far the most successful plan. Most people come with a pitch of "I want more money so you should give it to me" and that is not usually so compelling.
