🏡 "Luxury Translated: Family Business at La Maison Pierre Frey" 🎨
Marie-Victoire Chopin, PhD & I recently had the honor of interviewing PIERRE FREY, Communication Director at La Maison Pierre Frey, for our ongoing INSEAD research on "Luxury, Immersion, and the Lifestyle Revolution" with David Dubois.
Our conversation revealed profound insights into the world of interiors, craftsmanship, and the immersive magic that his family-driven brand weaves.
🧵 « La Maison Pierre Frey is an unmissable name worldwide, boasting a vast collection of French art de vivre archetypes, unrivaled excellence, and #creativity . Yet, few people realize the omnipresence of your brand in the world of décor because there's no logo on every square meter of fabric," I inquired.
🏡 PIERRE FREY's response: « La Maison Pierre Frey was founded by my grandfather in 1935 and has been led since 1972 by my tireless father, Patrick Frey, who serves as the artistic director. We've continually expanded our horizons, from weaving in our workshop in France to crafting furniture, printing fabrics, and wallpapers. We operate as a family, and to me, Pierre Frey has always been a 'home.' I've heard my father say countless times that we are a family house, rooted in humanity and values. We indeed possess a globally recognized archive, the most extensive private collection of textiles and wallpapers-related documents, and we are stewards of this heritage."
🎨 Regarding #lifestyle and #luxury : "There's an #artdevivre and a color that is Pierre Frey; we aim to create top-quality, high-end, enduring products that transcend years, even decades. Our fabrics are woven in France with high-quality dyes. Our creativity is unique.
Luxury, to me, is linked to elegance, beauty, the rarity and uniqueness of a product, and quality craftsmanship.
At Pierre Frey, it translates into the transmission of a family spirit, just like a luxury house."
🛋 On the concept of immersion and how it applies to their industry, Pierre Frey remarked: "How do we create immersion? 'Talent, eyes, hands.' Immersion is largely crafted through the staging of our products, such as through our storefronts. We also take great care of personally knowing our clients, to be intimately aligned with their quest for beauty ».
🌿 Lastly, when questioned about environmental and #CSR concerns, Pierre Frey shared, "The textile industry is unfortunately still inherently polluting. We do our best. For instance, our #Natecru range is made in France from recycled fabrics in a sustainable, untreated, and dye-free manner."
Pierre Frey's insights encapsulate the essence of dedication, family values, luxury, and immersion, redefining how we perceive craftsmanship and lifestyle.
How do these perspectives resonate with your understanding of luxury and immersion?
