“New users have been asking how LLMs and chatbots will reshape medicine. Perhaps the reverse question should be ‘How can the intended medical use shape the training of LLMs and chatbots or the other applications they power?’” One of the most well-written short communications I’ve seen around the training of LLMs on medical data, which is something I’ve been wondering a lot about. Thank you JAMA and Nigam Shah! Also, one of the first articles I’ve seen that objectively considers the value proposition of AI: “…there is a risk of falling into the trap of automating tasks that individuals already know how to do, and failing to ask the question of what a person plus such models could do together that may yield better medical care.” Yes! Link in comments. Happy reading. . . . #MedComms #AI #LLM #ChatGPT #MedicalAffairs #Medicine #ArtificialIntelligence

🚀 Exciting advancements in AI are poised to revolutionize regulatory affairs! 🧬 In 2023, GlobalData named Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the top technology set to disrupt the industry. However, while the potential is immense, recent testing with ChatGPT highlights significant challenges. Errors like 'hallucinating' research papers and inventing conclusions demonstrate the current limitations of large language models (LLMs) in providing accurate regulatory information. But fear not! Here are 4️⃣ ways AI is expected to transform regulatory affairs: 1️⃣ AI in Labelling: Helping professionals identify errors and ensure compliance with regulations on product labels. 2️⃣ AI in Regulatory Publishing: Streamlining the submission process by assisting with hyperlinking and bookmarking. 3️⃣ AI in Regulatory Submissions: Automating repetitive tasks and generating complete regulatory documents from templates or clinical trial data. 4️⃣ AI in Regulatory Information and Guidance: Introducing specialized tools like OrcaGPT, trained to provide up-to-date answers on a range of regulatory topics. Watch out for these AI technologies as they aim to accelerate processes and enhance research capabilities in regulatory affairs. While some tools are still in development, the potential impact is undeniable! Excited to see how AI continues to reshape the future of regulatory affairs?
