It's good to stay curious, right? A curious mind and learning something new not only brings a dopamine hit, it helps to rewire our neural pathways. It keeps us alert, motivated and happy! For professionals working with families, curiosity is crucial - keeping an open mind that what works for one family won't necessarily work for another. For us it comes back to our 'no one-size-fits-all' mantra. It's what our advanced training Level 3 Award in Connective Parenting NVR is all about. The training takes an in-depth look at how we can adapt the Connective Parenting NVR approach for different needs and different scenarios. We look at how it can support families with complex layers of needs and how neurodiversity, sensory development and mental health all play a part in that. Our advanced training starts again next month on Tuesday 23rd April. Will you be joining us? 🤔 How often do we see the mirror as a friend, especially during our teenage years? As a former high school Dean of Students, transitioning into mental health therapy… I've observed a critical issue that often goes unaddressed: the fragile body image in adolescents. The journey from the hallways of a bustling high school to the quiet reflection of a therapist’s office has deepened my understanding of this matter. Adolescents, constantly bombarded by social media's portrayal of 'ideal' bodies, are at a vulnerable stage where their self-perception is heavily influenced by external factors. As educators, parents, and mentors, our role isn’t just to build knowledge but to foster healthy self-images. Strategies: 1. Dialogue and Discussion: Create open platforms in schools and community centers where body image and self-esteem issues can be discussed without judgment. This transparency breaks the stigma and encourages positive self-talk. 2. Diverse Representation: It’s crucial to expose young minds to a variety of body types and appearances in media and literature. This diversity reinforces the idea that beauty and worth are not monolithic. 3. Empowerment through Education: Integrating lessons on media literacy helps adolescents discern and critique the unrealistic body standards often portrayed in advertisements and social media. Moving beyond conventional approaches, I propose a unique solution - ⁉️ Restorative Image Circles: Similar to restorative justice circles, these gatherings focus on sharing experiences and healing the relationship with one’s body image. This innovative approach fosters a community that supports and uplifts each other, combating the isolation that often accompanies body image struggles. 🚀 Let’s move forward - - - ⁉️ Are you a small business, community organization, or school ready to be a catalyst in shaping positive body image in our youth? Let’s collaborate to implement these strategies and more. 💻 Book an appointment today at https://lnkd.in/e4Bz4Ysw and join us in this transformative journey.
