Svitzer have developed a standardized set of dock jobs in SERTICA, enabling them to efficiently plan and execute docking across diverse geographic locations, including Australia, Americas, Europe and AMEA.      "The ability to pre-select dock jobs for every docking occurrence not only streamlines our operations but also significantly reduces our capital expenditures and operational expenses," Roger Valencia explains.     The goal was clear from the start: to standardize the dry-docking process across the fleet to better negotiate with OEMs. "By having standard specifications for dock jobs, we have gained a stronger bargaining position, securing better prices for items used in overhauls," Roger highlights.     The strategy also focuses on minimizing vessel downtime by aligning major overhauls with docking schedules. "Strategically performing main engine and thruster overhauls during docking periods has proven essential in significantly reducing our vessels' downtime," Roger reflects.     #sertica #MaintenanceManagement #DryDocking

The Queensland Government's drive to rejuvenate local train manufacturing gains momentum with a $30 million investment from Hyundai Rotem, a partner of Downer. Hyundai Rotem plans to establish a dedicated facility on the Fraser Coast to manufacture sub-components for train car bodies. This move, aligned with the government's commitment to revitalizing train manufacturing in Maryborough, will create 20 new jobs. The Hyundai Rotem facility complements ongoing developments at Torbanlea and Downer's Maryborough site, contributing to the production of 65 six-car passenger trains for the Southeast Queensland train network. This initiative marks a significant shift towards localising the manufacturing of critical train components previously produced overseas. What profession comes to mind when you think of people, methods, machines and materials? For us it is clearly the job of a Production manager, namely that of Fabio S. at our Nuremberg site. We have asked Fabio what he likes best about his job and he told us it is working together as a team. In his role as Director Production at duagon, he is responsible for the lean operation of an electronic production plant with over 100 production employees in over 3,000 square metres. For him it is challenging and fun to achieve a common goal with people from different backgrounds, ages, educational backgrounds and interests.
