Exciting news to share with my network! I have recently obtained a new certification from Stanford Online: XINE214 - Empathize and Prototype: A Hands on Dive into the Key Tools of Design Thinking. This course provides a hands-on approach to the art of innovation. Key concepts and tools of design thinking are introduced by two of the Stanford d. school’s top design thinking practitioners. Looking forward to applying these tools to my work and sharing my learnings with others. The course teaches a step-by-step process for approaching new projects and challenges with the mindset of an innovative problem-solver. Well that was fun! Honoured to have been the only non American invited to speak on the Hello Tomorrow panel around #branding and effective #communicationstrategies for #deeptech startups. #hellotomorrow 45 minutes to answer the question: -> What is the importance of a strong branding and how do you make sure your message sticks? Some of my key takeaways: 👯 Know your audience Prior to pitching to anyone, understand their background and adapt your conversation, use of words depending on whether they have a fair understanding of the science/market or whether they need education. Learn to show flexibility from highly technical pitches to "dumbed down" pitches that your grandma could understand. 🧠 Understand the way the brain works Using some of the basic principles in neurosciences, from the three brains to laws of repetition or association can be a powerful tool to tailor your pitches, conversations and to ensure stickiness. For example, you can use the law of association relying on accessible/known concepts by your target's brain to ensure stickiness. If you were truly wondering, no, Kolibri doesn't truly play music to cells, yet the message gets to stick because of the law of association (if you don't know this neuroscience principle, google it 😎 ) ⚖ Find the balance between vision and science Similarly, yes your technology matters but your vision matters as much if not even more. Messages are processed through the reptilian brain, limbic system before being able to journey to the neocortex (aka the analytical mind). What that means is that if your target's reptilian brain is being triggered into survival, no message whatsoever about how fancy your tech is will ever get to their neocortex. And simple boredom or overload of scientific information can be associated with flight or fight. (🚨 Is this safe? Does she think I am stupid? Why does this even matter to me?🚨 ) A simple way to contour this is to rely on Simon Sinek's golden cirlces (Ted Talk in comment) and remember that people invest in why you do things and not what you do.
