Congratulations to digital news editor and staff writer, Sarah Diehn, for receiving the award “Best Beat Reporting, Tech and Innovation – Gold” at the recent AABP Editorial Excellence Awards. Judges said, “Even the nation’s oldest and most storied companies must innovate, or find themselves falling behind. Be it John Deere adding new product lines, or banks central to the region working to protect themselves from collapse, change is at the center of it all. This reporting offers a peek behind the curtain at what is happening and who is leading the charge.” Subscribe to our InnovationIOWA weekly newsletter at: https://lnkd.in/gcBZrRgj

Taxonomies are the make-or-break of any research repository. Put simply, they’re a way of organising and structuring tags. Taxonomies help teams keep research and insights organised, and make it easier for people to find specific knowledge across studies and teams. But the way you tag insights has another huge benefit. It also helps you to discover previously unseen gaps and opportunities in your existing data. It’s why the process of building an effective taxonomy has become a hot topic of discussion within today’s research and design communities. In this video we share 4 questions that any team looking to improve their taxonomy, or build one from scratch, can use to level up their taxonomy game. https://lnkd.in/eyHM4E8G #research #taxonomy #tipsandtricks

Graph semantics and AI trends strategist / Transformation consultant / Veteran researcher, analyst and reporter
A good enterprise knowledge graph does these things well: * Helps an organization find actionable answers to hard questions. * Decentralizes the access to those answers so that more people can take informed actions and solve hard problems. * Decentralizes the access to shared business rules and contexts so that there's broad agreement and alignment on how to take action. Such a knowledge graph starts with thoughtful, methodologically sound research and data collection, including how to find the right questions to ask. Good knowledge depends on sound divergent and convergent research. If you're not harnessing the power of a good knowledge graph, you're still looking for your keys under the lamppost because that's where your only light is. Illuminate more places to get better answers quickly and make better decisions. From my 2022 Quora answer at:

Open-source LLMs paired with high-quality annotations boost sentiment-driven strategies. RavenPack researchers fine-tuned FinBERT, an LLM trained on financial data, with RavenPack Annotations, a dataset of financial sentences enriched with nuanced sentiment labels. This resulted in a 48% increase in Information Ratio and a 47% uptick in annualized returns. Check out the one-page Executive Brief to learn more about our approach.
