Corporate Affairs. Media Relations. Corporate Communications. Communications Strategy for senior leaders.
Top three ways to write better copy. 1. Be clear on the plan What is the purpose of this content and the audience? What is it trying to achieve? Is that realistic? If so, how can you help? 2. Write tight to avoid flight Write to a strict word limit. Your news is your news, but that may not make it interesting. Don’t take a whole page when half a page or less will do. 3. Be brutal to be kind Be your toughest editor. Review, walk away and come back and review again. And don’t get overwhelmed. Hire a professional writer to support you and the team if things get too much. #writingtips #ceo #cmo #corporateaffairs #mediarelations #communications #communicationsmanager You can follow Daniel McDougall and get his perspectives from 25 years in the media and communications industry.

Saw these "Minimum Qualifications" for an Associate Editor position. There's a couple of degrees between "High school diploma" and "Graduate level experience" (just sayin' 🤷♀️) #jobdescription #jobrequirements #jobpostings #publishingjobs

You can Never go Wrong with Expertise ⬇ Over the weekend, I was able to share my expertise with an outsourcer on a potential news writing-related job. He thought that a part of the recommended process for the news writing/paraphrasing job wasn't good enough. ➡What was the process? He was told that if the paraphrased news story was longer than the expected word count, he could delete one or two paragraphs (the additional information) at the bottom. So, he doubted it. When he informed me about it, I said the process wouldn't change anything, as the/those paragraphs contain less important information. News stories are written in the inverted pyramid style - information goes from most to least important. ➡ How was I able to offer this expertise? My background in mass communication and experience working as a news reporter. The expertise experience helped me provide clarity to the matter at hand. In what way(s) have you been able to offer your expertise recently? Kindly share them with me in the comments 👇 #newswriting #newsreporter #printmedia #broadcasting #news #contentwriter #seo

When you really want to tell your story, but don’t know how: You know it’s of value ✔️ You know it can help someone ✔️ You know it’s a story that should be told ✔️ But how do you get it out there? Sending out a press release will get it out there. But DON’T make these mistakes: 1. Don’t send the PR as an attachment. 2. Don’t forget to include 1 photo if necessary. 3. Don’t forget to make a short pitch at the start of the email. Make sure you REMEMBER: 1. To lay out your the press release in the body of the email after your pitch. 2. Long stories make quick features for editors & journalists. 3. To keep your language simple in your PR. Make it as EASY as possible for a publication to pick up your story. The less work an editor or journalist has to do, the more likely you will succeed! It’s not complicated. Get it written and start emailing it out. 💡Need help with a professionally written press release? 💡Go to my featured section to book a call. 📣Keep following me for more tips about how to write a bloody brilliant press release. #editor #writer #fashionindustry

What editing techniques do you find most useful? ✏️ Reading aloud. Looking at your speech with the coldest eye ( put it away for a day or two and revisit it with fresh eyes). Present your speech in front of 1 or 2 people before your engagement. Be open to feedback. When possible, hire a professional editor❤️

I've been reflecting on the year and it's time to give a shout out 📢 to some unsung heroes. My job is multi-faceted. It encompasses news writing✏️, editing, creating corporate content, ghost 👻 writing, a bit of panel hosting and media training, and a lot of research 🔎. A lot of my job would be impossible without PRs. As a young reporter 👶 I thought journalists and PRs were natural enemies 🤬. And sometimes we are – me trying to get information from a reluctant company, its PR standing resolutely in the way firing off ‘no comments’🤐. But as I've learned more about my trade and theirs I've come to see PRs and journalists as both in the media trenches, neither of us favourites with the public, both with targets 🎯, neither of us hitting them most of the time. PRs help me a lot with my job. I need comments from experts 🦸♀️in all sorts of fields for a wide variety of articles and research, often at short notice. I chase them relentlessly for info, set tight deadlines 📅, ask awkward questions 🫢, and refuse copy approval. To a one, the PRs I work with are polite, professional, and doing their best, trying to help whenever they can, even if that is to say, “we can't help this time”, giving me the chance to contact someone else before deadline. PRs have to put up with a lot of crap 😣. Some of it from me. So thank you. Here's to a long future in the game. You win some, you lose some, you keep playing. #freelance #freelancecontentwriter #journalism #journalist #pr #mediarelations #media #editing #reporting #reporter #financialeducation #moneymatters

Founder at Wonder Communications SA⭐️ Let's share the wonder of #PR and #Content together for short-term projects⭐️ Publicist/Content Writer/Social Media Copywriter/ Community Manager/Proof Reader/Ghost Writer
I was the annual report writer for one of the #companies I worked at, for six long years...and honestly, I would happily have handed off the job to someone else. So,let me be THAT person for you and your team this year⭐️ Together, we can create an #annualreport that astonished and delights all of your stakeholders! Details in the post below👇🏾 #contentwriter #prconsultant #opentowork
Hot take: a company's #annualreport should NOT be written by an #internalcommunications professional. Often, your internal communications writers are already so inundated with #content requests, #events, #newsletters etc that planning, researching and conceptulaizing an annual report feels like the last thing to do on their to-do lists and the copy can feel less fresh and exciting. Give them a break and your stakeholders something to look forward to by hiring a #writer who will tell your company's year-long #journey with a fresh perspective and an objective view. At Wonder Communications SA, we excel at highlighting your #business's annual successes and learnings in an easy-to-understand format and writing style that is a magical marriage between being fun and informative. Reach out to us via DM or send an email to [email protected] to book your #consultation ⭐️ #workwithus #annualreportwriter #businesstips #tipsandtricks

📈 The Video Excellence Method | Grow organically, acquire more clients, and make an impact | 30 million views
How to differentiate yourself from competition First and foremost, increase the quality of the content you post. The first two people you should hire are a scriptwriter and a video editor. Secondly, you need to have a unique way of presenting the information. Unique place, unique tone of voice, unique format, just pick what you like. Thirdly, you need to give stuff for free. Give advice, give recommendations and give free samples of your product. By doing these three things I guarantee you will stand out from your competition which in the end will increase your chance for getting new clients. - Aleksa
