Denver Health made a strong showing at last Saturday’s Heart Walk for the American Heart Association (AHA), which celebrates its 100th anniversary this month! The event helped raise awareness and support for research and treatment of heart disease and stroke, which are among the leading causes of death for men and women. Special thanks to our nearly 50 employees, family members and dogs who joined in the walk around Sloan’s Lake as well as to those who made donations, helping our team raise more than $2,300 for the AHA! We are #DenverHealthProud ❤️. #DHSpotlight #DHCommunity #CardiovascularDisease #HeartDisease #Stroke #HeartWalk #AHABoldHearts

Reimagine is committed to promoting health and wellness within our community. As part of our participation in the Ride for Heart, we’re highlighting the importance of recognizing the signs of stroke, which can save lives during a medical emergency. Recognize a Stroke with FAST: F - Face: Is it drooping on one side? A - Arms: Can the person raise both arms, or is one arm weak? S - Speech: Is speech slurred or strange? T - Time: If you observe any of these signs, call 9-1-1 immediately. Knowing these signs and acting quickly can make a critical difference in stroke outcomes. Share this information with your colleagues, friends, and family to help raise awareness and potentially save lives. You can also support our participation in the Ride for Heart by donating. Donations are open until tomorrow! https://lnkd.in/gd8B-wuY #CorporateChallenge #RideForHeart #HeartAndStroke #StrokeAwareness #FAST #CommunityHealth #LifeSavingKnowledge

Friends and Family: Imagine that you are an expecting parent doing what they often do: buying clothes that will be too quickly outgrown; stocking up on diapers; and making list of names. You go to what should be another routine check-up to see how you or your partner is progressing. Your doctor comes into the room with someone you have never met. You know instantly that something is different. Rather than hearing the repeated phrase that “everything is as expected” – something you silently took for granted until now – you are told that you your soon to be born has been diagnosed with Down Syndrome. You are disoriented. You do not know what to say or do. You can’t hear anything else that is being said. It is experiences like these that make Down Syndrome Center of Puget Sound (“DSC”) such a vital part of our community. DSC’s “First Call Program” provide immediate resources and mentoring for parents that are processing the unexpected. To continue providing critical services like these, the DSC needs your support. If you are able, please donate here: https://lnkd.in/gbPpwUzQ Also, please consider participating in the upcoming Buddy Walk on October 8, 2023, at Woodland Park Zoo to show your support for the DSC community: https://lnkd.in/geDbqhVF

Strategist, organizer, coach, trainer, facilitator, thought partner. Advancing social justice by helping individuals, campaigns, organizations & coalitions build long-term power while reaching short-term goals.
My college friend Kerry Dolan Slater got deeply involved in efforts to improve treatments and ultimate cure MS after her mom was diagnosed with the disease several years ago. As an annual contributor to Team Jani, I haven't just gotten to support a friend as she supports a good cause. As a nonprofit professional who always has my eyes out for other people doing great work, I have noted the MS Society's best practices in maximizing the impact of their MS Walk events. One thing that impresses me about the MS Walk's infrastructure is their attention to matching gifts. Not only do they prompt donors to check on whether they work for a company that provides matching funds - they also send follow up emails to make sure they get those matches. If you're looking for some great examples to use as templates for your own future fundraising campaign, here's my suggestion of the day: 1) Make a donation of any size (link below) and screen shot their donation page; 2) Keep an eye out for the follow up emails and use them as inspiration for your own future emails! 3) Feel great about supporting the National MS Society while adding valuable examples to your portfolio of fundraisers to emulate: https://lnkd.in/dSwcwr7q
