Dental Hygiene has always had a high burn-out rate. The average Hygienist spends only seven years in practice. Some reasons: Many Dental Hygienists go into the field unaware of and unprepared for the physical and emotional demands of the job. Prospective Hygienists observe only experienced Hygienists – who make a difficult job look easy. Attracted to the field by the high pay and flexible hours, many are unpleasantly surprised at the reality of day-to-day practice. -Article by blueseadental I myself am a dental hygienist and the burn out is real..at least for the clinical side of this career..I graduated 13 years ago and I can completely understand this article. I left clinical 6 months ago due to an unfortunate circumstance/circumstances that occurred that left me feeling not good enough..belittled..completely lost second guessing my own integrity as a hygienist ..I hate that I let that happen..I know my worth now and will never let me second guess my own worth again. -Other reasons too for this profession there is no room for growth, no benefits, no yearly raises, no recognition of being a provider for the practice, we are looked past our training and expertise as a licensed professional.. for example: I was in an exam room with a dentist and patient and the patient was thinking about dental hygiene school and he says to her no you don’t want to do that is petty you need to be a dentist… 🫨 ▫️I want to hear from other hygienists if you left your clincial job why did you leave? ▫️Or if you want to leave but can’t due to financial reasons tell me why you want to leave? What would make you want to stay? #dentalhygiene #dentalhygieneburnout #dental #burnout #dental #dentalcareer #hygienesolutions #hygienematters #dentalprofessionals #hygienist

An aspiring Dental Hygienist? Here’s a career tip for you: practice your skill and stamina! A critical component of a successful career in dental hygiene is the development of exceptional dexterity and physical stamina. These skills are essential as a dental hygienist is tasked with intricate work in the confined spaces of the oral cavity, requiring both precision and a steady hand. In addition to fine motor skills, the role of a dental hygienist is physically demanding. It involves maintaining challenging positions and carrying out repetitive tasks, necessitating a high level of physical endurance and the ability to perform accurately under physical strain. Combining skill and stamina is important in ensuring that each patient receives the highest standard of care possible. 🪥 #dentalcareer #dentalhygienistcareer

Attention Junior Dentists: Beware of Greedy Employers! 🚨 I have decided to talk about something which most Dentist don't usually engage in sharing with the community. As you embark on your dental career, it's crucial to be aware of the unethical practices some employers may try to impose. While the pursuit of profits is understandable, it should never come at the expense of patient safety and well-being. Unfortunately, I've seen instances where employers pressure dentists to cut corners, perform unnecessary procedures, or compromise on quality of care all in the name of maximising profits. This not only puts patients at risk but also jeopardises the integrity of the profession. As a junior dentist, your primary responsibility should be to provide exceptional, ethical care to your patients. Don't let greedy employers sway you into practices that go against your values and the oath you've taken. Stand firm, advocate for your patients, and don't be afraid to walk away from situations that make you uncomfortable. Remember, your reputation and the trust of your patients are invaluable. Resist the temptation of short-term gains and instead, focus on building a career that you can be proud of - one that puts patients first and upholds the highest standards of the dental profession. 🦷💎 Attached a picture of an X-ray showing a horrible treatment plan excuted for a patient, not just for laugh but also something for us to ponder upon. #JuniorDentist #EthicalPractice #PatientSafety #GreetyEmployers #DentalCareer
