LOT 134 Paris 2024 1957 Porsche 356 Carrera 1500 GS Speedster €792,500 EUR | Sold | Paris, France Chassis No. 83492 Engine No. P92002 Documents German Fahrzeugbrief A rare and highly desirable variant of Porsche’s legendary 356 A Speedster Delivered with Porsche’s now legendary four-cam Carrera engine Fully restored and eligible for major motoring events around the world Porsche’s brand is now closely associated with motorsport, especially renowned for its historical domination of Le Mans, but its post-war origins were more modest. With its first pure-bred sportscar, the 550 Spyder, Porsche cleaned up in the 1,500 cc class at major endurance races including the Carrera Panamericana. Thanks to the genius of Max Hoffman, Porsche’s leading US importer, the Speedster model had been wildly successful in North America. Wishing to capitalise on their motorsport success in the region, Porsche launched the Carrera GS fitted with a road-adapted version of the Ernst Fuhrmann-designed four-cam engine, which had garnered so much success with the 550 Spyder. From 1957, the model was available in either ‘de luxe’ form or a lightweight competition GT version. According to a copy of its factory Kardex, this Speedster Carrera GS, chassis number 83492, was delivered new on 26 June 1957 to North America via Max Hoffman. Specified in Silver Metallic over Black Leatherette, along with coupé seats and USA bumper bars, this rare car features a later replacement Typ 692/1 four-cam Carrera engine. More recently, this 356 was subjected to a full restoration and presents as a fresh car. Ready to be enjoyed on road tours or at Porsche meetings or even major events such as the Mille Miglia, this wonderful Carrera GS would make a fantastic addition to any garage. #classic #classics #classiccars #collectorcars #carcollectors #historic #vintage #performance #racing #rallying #driving #car #cars #automotiveindustry #auto #autos #autoindustry #auction #forsale #sold #automotive #investment #privatesale

Classic - the 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale! Following up the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 race car from the year before, Alfa Romeo decided to take all that performance and put it in a road car. The 33 Stradale was born. Considered by many to be one of the finest and most balanced cars every built, especially for the time. It sports a 2.0L V8 producing 251hp, with the power routed to the rear wheels via a 6-Speed Speed manual gearbox. It has a 6 second 0-60mph and an advertised top speed of 160mph (though German magazine Auto, Motor und Sport got 156.6mph in their test). Only 18 were made in total, however 5 of them were used to create concept cars from Italian coachbuilders over the years: Italdesign's Alfa Romeo Iguana designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Pininfarina's 1968 Alfa Romeo P33 Roadster, 1969 Alfa Romeo 33/2 Coupe Speciale and 1971 Alfa Romeo Cuneo (built in the same chassis as the P33 Roadster). Bertone's 1968 Alfa Romeo Carabo and 1976 Alfa Romeo Navajo. #alfaromeo #33stradale #classic #performance #speed #italy 🇮🇹 #Anis_Maaouia
