"Fix your day to fix your week." I've never owned a restaurant, but this saying comes from that industry. It's not uncommon for there to be a "slow day" for any given food establishment. It could be a Tuesday night or a Wednesday afternoon. For whatever reason, that is the slowest day. But... If the owner works on fixing that slow day... ...offering a discount, creating a special, etc. ... The fix will usually positively affect the whole week. Your slow day is fixed and your whole week is better. For many of us, our "slow day" is January. Well, what can we be doing now to fix that and how will it affect the rest of our year? Fix your January to fix your year! It might not be January for you, but the concept remains the same. Don't just settle for a slow season. Fix it!

On weekends, I always seek to do something special so that my mind can find refreshment and my body can rest. After that day, I have to work very hard on the very first day, like on Monday. So, I advise everyone to take some rest on the weekends and do something that will provide peace to your body and mind so that you can start your week with a kick start. To make my weekends special, I talk to my family and friends. Most importantly, I cook. Yesterday, I was cooked "Paneer Kathi Roll." When my cooking experiment goes in the right direction, it brings me so much happiness, and I also see happiness on the faces of my loved ones. Don't be a terrible person today. For the last 7 years, I've eaten Thanksgiving dinner at restaurants by choice. I know what I'm talking about when I say there are some cardinal rules you should abide by if you're like me and prefer to keep Thanksgiving as easy and stress-free as possible. Make reservations. If you're reading this right now, it's too late for you. Some takeout or low-end places will be open try your luck there. If you were hoping for "fancy" you're out of luck, move on and don't stress it. I've had hamburgers and fries for many a Thanksgiving meal, and it was great. Tip AT MINIMUM 20%. I don't care if the food was cold, the order was wrong, the drinks came late. It's a holiday and the servers are forgoing spending time with their family for one thing and one thing only, make that sweet holiday cash. Don't be cheap, tip well. Know what you want, check out the menu ahead of time. It's 2023, the menu is online. The house is full and each server has their fair share of customers. Know what you want ahead of time for the most part, so that things can move quickly. You'll thank yourself too since the sooner you get your order in, the sooner the food will leave the kitchen. Don't make a mess. This should be obvious. I'm not your mom but seriously, pick up after yourself. No, it's not "their job". Even if it was, why do you want to make someone's job harder? Go with the flow and relax. Remember you're eating out at a restaurant because you wanted things to be stress-free. Just chill out, let go of expectations, and no matter what just enjoy yourself. It's just not that serious.

I used to eat Hot Cheetos for dinner. While at Uber I was lucky enough to work on the Global strategy & planning team for the Delivery business, Uber Eats. I got to work with colleagues from all over the world: New York, London, Amsterdam, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and India. Essentially I was Tech’s Carmen Sandiego. The only problem - I was in San Francisco. This meant I’d routinely start my days at 7am with Amsterdam AND end my days with 9pm meetings with India - on the same day. And by the end of THOSE days, all I’d be able to manage was:   → A glass of wine → A handful of Hot Cheetos  → And The Great British Baking show. And as much as I loved Hot Cheetos, I knew in my gut that they would eventually ruin me. I had to get my time back or I’d burn out – in more ways than one! Here’s what I learned:  → No one actually knew I was in San Francisco (Carmen Sandiego, remember?)  → People will claim all the time on my calendar unless I tell them not to.  → Some people will still ignore my boundaries - they were the exception. Here's what I did having those facts in place: I placed “Ask before scheduling” blocks strategically at the beginning and end of my days to communicate where I was located and to encourage as much email before blocking time as possible. It was a revelation and soon I got off my “Hot Cheetos and wine for dinner” diet. Now, I function by blocking time on my calendar. If you’ve tried blocking your calendar and you STILL have annoying (I said what I said) coworkers scheduling over them… Permission to make up some fake meetings so you can at least get 30 minutes in for an undisturbed lunch break. I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it:  Own your schedule or your schedule will own you. Is anyone struggling with Daylight savings today? Or is it just me?
