FRAUNHOFER IOF RESEARCHERS DEVELOPED 7000 LUX DYNAMIC INDICATOR LIGHT The system will now be presented at the Optatec Messe 2024 from May 14 to 16 in Frankfurt.   Blind spots, small turn signals or poor visibility - there are many reasons why risky situations might occur between participants in road traffic, for example when a cyclist overlooks the turn signal of a car pulling out.   Researchers at Fraunhofer IOF have now developed a projected turn signal that achieves an illuminance of over seven thousand lux with a size of just 35 x 35 x 55 millimeters. The turn signal is projected onto the road in a dynamic movement and indicates when the car is changing direction. The illumination guarantees maximum visibility even under daylight conditions. The projected pattern enables the car to communicate with its surroundings, be it other cars, pedestrians, or cyclists and can therefore contribute to increased road safety.   The turn signal will be presented for the first time at OPTATEC 2024 from May 14 to 16 in Frankfurt (Main). Last week, Quantum Hub, in collaboration with VDL Mast Solutions, their client Heijmans, and the Israeli startup RoadSense Advanced Technologies, successfully conducted a POC in the Netherlands. 🇳🇱✨ This initiative marks a significant step forward in leveraging advanced sensor technology to enhance road safety and traffic management. 🚧🚦 The joint POC is a testament to the longstanding partnership between VDL Groep and Quantum Hub. During the POC, we tested a unique sensor system designed to monitor road conditions and detect pedestrians and cyclists in real-time.
