This is a very good letter. My de-identified family member received this from VicRoads this week. Okay, it is a good letter because it is good news, but I believe that this is one of the best written letters from an agency or authority I have seen. - It starts with a thank you. - It acknowledges that you have been waiting... ... and rewards you by believing you have been waiting patiently. - It reassures you that there is nothing you need to do. - It appreciates your time and effort and thanks you for your contribution. - It encourages you to enjoy driving and asks you to take care. So just think about that for a moment - acknowledgement, reassurance, appreciation and encouragement - what if you made those into key values in all your correspondence? This is the kind of written communication I try to encourage in the teams I work with. I say to them "let's make our correspondence less of a legal threat and more of a love letter". Thankyou VicRoads for your lovely letter, whoever taught you to write like this has done a great job.

One of the best Account Managers I ever worked with was a former Marine. And it was this one little daily routine he performed that told me a lot about him. Even when he was traveling for business in hotels, or on vacations with his family... ✅ He made his bed everyday. So what? Why did I think that was so important and impressive? The U.S. Marines are required to make their bed each morning as part of their training and daily routine for several important reasons: • Discipline: Making the bed each morning instills a sense of discipline. It's a simple, consistent task that helps Marines start their day with order and structure. • Attention to Detail: The act of making a bed correctly requires attention to detail, a critical skill in the military where precision can be a matter of life and death. • Sense of Accomplishment: Completing a small task first thing in the morning provides a sense of accomplishment, setting a positive tone for the rest of the day. • Standardization: Uniformity is key in the military. Ensuring that all beds are made to the same standard fosters a sense of unity and conformity. • Cleanliness and Order: A clean and orderly living environment is crucial in the military. It prevents chaos, reduces stress, and promotes a healthy lifestyle. • Foundation for Larger Tasks: Completing small tasks successfully can build confidence and prepare Marines for larger, more complex challenges. • Reflects Personal Responsibility: Taking responsibility for personal space reflects a Marine's ability to take responsibility in other areas of their life and duties. 👉 These principles extend beyond the military, encouraging discipline, responsibility, and a sense of pride in personal accomplishments. Who wouldn't want these characteristics in an Enterprise Account Manager? Things I have learned about working for myself: 1. There no longer is a TEAM, it is only I. There is no one else to blame, cheer you on or yell at you. You are your worst enemy and best friend. 2. No one cleans up for you. People laugh because I have Janitor next to my title. It's funny but it's also true. 3. You will never work more hours than working for yourself. How many 21 hour days have you had at your big company job? I don't have enough fingers and toes for this year alone. 4. You are your own salesman. This also means you are customer service as well. 5. Few things make you more upset with yourself than messing something up and the customer points it out. 6. You will look at every task in dollars and cents. Time is money. 7. You no longer take 1hr lunch breaks, ever. Shoving food in your face while driving to drop parts off at 5 customers counts as lunch. A 1 hr lunch break means I am with customers or friends. And it's not paid. 8. Couriers, UPS, FEDEX and Speedy make the world go around. 9. I've learned more about my skills and abilities in the last 5 years working for myself than my 1st 15 years of engineering. It's not even close. 10. No one really cares what you wear. They are paying you for what you have between your ears. I really love wearing shorts and crap t-shirts to work.

Good Afternoon, Team, I wanted to take this opportunity of Feel Good Friday to spotlight an employee with Lawrence Companies. Maricela Ortiz, based out of Waynesboro VA, is a vital part of our Freight Division. In a dual role as customer service rep and dispatch, Mari ensures that the business continues to run on a daily basis. I took a few moments out of Mari's day today to ask her what is means to be part of the inclusion of Lawrence Companies: 1. Being an employee-owned business, what does being an ESOP mean to you? My day-to-day decisions impact the future, not only for myself, but for the company that we all own. 2. What Direction would you like to see for our company and/or personal growth? Continued expansion and growth. The opportunity to bring in more profit. Lastly, an opportunity to see myself advance within the company. 3. What Brings Joy to your life? What gets you out of bed in the morning? My children bring me joy and are my purpose in life. This job understands and identifies family because that is how we all operate. Team, I leave you with this. Our employees are our life blood. The best part? They all have a story to tell. You just have to be curious enough to get to know them. Mari, like many others, are an essential part of the business that continue to advocate the growth and culture that we have proudly put in place.
