As a firm, we're committed to growing our impact in the lives of those around us. It begins with the care and support we provide our associates to address their own physical, mental, emotional, financial and social well-being. With that as our focus, we're incredibly proud that in 2024, we were named among the 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials by Fortune magazine and Great Place to Work. We work hard to stay aligned with what makes a great workplace for younger generations. In 2023, we commissioned a study among 18-to 34-year-olds and learned that their concept of a career is an opportunity to make an impact and dedicate their time to something they love. Given that our firm's purpose is to make a positive impact in the lives of our clients, colleagues and communities, opportunities for this passion abound. The very work we do helps people achieve financially what is most important to them, we have longstanding mentoring programs, our various philanthropic relationships engage associates personally, and we have a generous time off policy for associates to volunteer in their communities. https://ow.ly/QbB250SFnoC Disclosure: 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials in 2024, published Fortune July 2024, Great Places to Work data as of August 2023. Are we being too harsh on millennials? Maybe the way we live now is secretly shaping some behaviors we see at work, that we as elder generation are not familiar with it. Could social media and easy access to fun things anytime (instant gratification) make all of us seem impatient, self-absorbed, lazy, and unlikely to stay in any job for long. Those behaviors have been associated more with millennials, but if you look close enough you will find it in today's workplace in general and across all generations not just millennials. As mentioned in the article, as Elspeth Reeve wrote in The Atlantic in 2013 “It’s not that people born after 1980 are narcissists, it’s that young people are narcissists, and they get over themselves as they get older.” So, the impact of our modern ways might be stronger on younger people because it's all around them. This is a thought-provoking topic, much like what you'd read in the Harvard Business Review article. https://lnkd.in/dvqnmCWw
