The European digital Identity 🇪🇺 Wallet #EUDIWallet is being tested and implemented by four large scale pilots. Learn more about them ⬇ The four pilot projects started in April 2023 with the aim to test the 🇪🇺 Wallet and provide feedback to legislators and standardisation bodies. In total 360 private companies and public authorities across 26 Member States, as well as Norway, Iceland, and Ukraine participate in the four projects. Each one operates as a consortium lead by one or more member states bringing together public and private sector expertise from across the EU with funding from the European Commission. They cover different sectors, such as healthcare, financial services, education, transportation, public administration, travel and organisational digital identity. The pilot projects will take place until 2025 with the envisioned result of having a well-tested open code base for the 🇪🇺 Wallet, which Member States can leverage to build their own 🇪🇺 Wallets. At #Lissi we are part of the EU Digital Wallet Consortium (EWC) as 🇪🇺 Wallet and connector provider. Hence, we provide the software to organisations required to implement use cases. 🇪🇺🆔 #DigITALIA First - Italy 🇮🇹 attempts to make an early start of an European Digital Identity Wallet with its #ITWallet - The official public launch is scheduled for January 2025, when Italian citizens will be able to download the latest version of the Io App and activate the wallet with the electronic identity on Italian national identity card #CIE or electronic identity in the Italian scheme for digital identities #SPID Senator Alessio Butti, undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council with responsibility for technological innovation: Q: “For the #EUDIWallet to become fully operational, the aim is for 2026, for the IT Wallet we are talking about 2025. Why this acceleration? And how will the two portfolios communicate? A: “The acceleration of the process with respect to the EUDI Wallet is a strategic choice aimed at positioning Italy as a leader in the adoption of digital technologies and in compliance with the new European regulations on digital identity. This move will allow us to test and refine the country's digital infrastructure in view of the full cross-border interoperability foreseen by the Eudi Wallet in 2026.
