This past week, ASSET Management Consulting team had the pleasure of speaking with students from the Mayor Marion S. Barry’s Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP) at Eagle Academy in SE Washington, DC. Sponsored by the DC Department of Employment Services, MBSYEP has been nurturing D.C. youth for 45 years. We delved into the critical subjects of real estate, financial literacy, and the importance of understanding that assets ➖ liabilities 🟰 net worth. The sessions included: - Real estate vocabulary - Financial literacy basics - Live deal calculations - Small business presentations These topics are crucial because they are often not taught in school, leaving many without the foundational knowledge needed for financial independence and success. By covering these subjects, we aim to fill this educational gap and empower students with practical skills for their future. A special thanks to the Healthy Babies Project for hosting us.
