Not my usual kind of post, but… Networking is a skill, and it becomes easier with practice. At the start of this year, I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone. I scheduled 30-minute Teams calls with professionals from top companies like KPMG and ex-Goldman Sachs employees. How did I do it? Cold messaging. In the beginning, many of my messages were left on "delivered" or "opened." But the more I practiced, the higher my success rate became. Fast forward to June 2024, and I have incredible mentors and contacts who share valuable insider information. This progress wouldn’t have been possible without the mindset I adopted a few months ago. People here are always willing to help – you just have to reach out. If you need any help landing informal work experience or have questions about cold messaging, feel free to reach out! #Networking #CareerAdvice #ColdMessaging #ProfessionalGrowth

Business Enterprise and IT - EPMO Leader | No Code AI and ML, Leadership and Innovation (MIT). I bring complex moving parts together- people, resources, cost, and tools to deliver innovative and successful solutions.
🎓 Knowledge Sharing, Mentorship and Being Thankful- 🙏 Some posts need to be reshared - Reposting again from 2021 As leaders, we should understand how important it is to uplift others to achieve their goals. I was fortunate to have a great mentor who trusted me 20 years back with a collaborated product between Citi and Upromise called the Citi Upromise cards. Having a Commerce and Finance background that push gave me the courage to dream about being a project manager. Thank you, Marcie Grossman Smith for being an inspiration for so many of us. I got married to a wonderful man who encouraged me in every step of my life to fulfill my dreams. I also learned how important it is to get that one opportunity that could make a difference or change your life. Emma Cox - Thank you for your kind words 🙏 . I met Emma Cox in 2020-2021 during the most crucial time when the world got hit with the worst pandemic... Covid. As a Project Sr Manager, I got the most time-sensitive project and I knew that I needed the best team to ensure smooth implementation. I was lucky to have Emma Cox on my team. Was I nervous that she didn't have a project management background... No, not at all because I had full confidence in my leadership and collaboration skills. And within a few days, I had full confidence in Emma Cox. I can't praise Emma enough for her dedication to learning, working hard, and also to understand how important the project was for all of us. Thank you Emma Cox for being a great resource and a fabulous team player- I wish you all the very best and all the success. Get connected with her, she is one great resource 👍 #projectmanagement, #projectmanagementprofessional #teamcollaboration #teamwork #learning #mentoring #recruiter,#hiring #talentsearch #deia

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒖𝒑. The initial years in a new role are crucial for building a strong #foundation. Unfamiliar faces, processes, and jargon create a mix of excitement and nervous energy. There's a reason they call it "learning the ropes" – it's the essential groundwork that prepares you for greater challenges ahead. Some might find the initial "grunt work" tedious, but it's where you learn the nitty-gritty details that allow you to tackle more complex challenges later. My initial journey began at HSBC in the year 2001 , where I quickly learned that no task was too small. With some like-minded seniors (Pradeep Kamath, Narshinvh Mokashi, Mukesh Khatri, Tejas Khara, Percy Mistry) I was thrown into the ocean of #coding, #Datamanagement and #analytics. Each experience, no matter how ordinary, good or bad, or seemingly insignificant, contributed to my future problem solving expertise and success. In the long run, it all adds up. Those early years taught me the value of asking "Why?" And I've never stopped ever since. I developed a keen curiosity that guided me through various data and #business challenges. Working closely with sales teams and business leaders, I encountered a wide range of issues, from temperamental, to personnel matters to process inefficiencies. I developed the valuable skill of conducting thorough root cause analysis. This analytical approach, combined with a strong work ethic instilled by #HSBC #corporateculture, formed the foundation of my #problemsolving #toolkit. This combination of curiosity, analytical thinking, and disciplined work ethic became my secret weapon for creative problem-solving. It's in these formative moments that I absorbed the nuances textbooks can't teach. Each experience refined my approach. How? Because I never stopped asking "Why?". The curiosity in me helped me gain insights that pushed me forward. The path isn't always glamorous, but it's these initial steps that prepare you for bigger leaps. So, keep an open mind. You never know which #skill or #linemanager will be invaluable. Keen to know how did my #linkedin #network cope with your initial years at #work?

Talking about career is always top of mind. That’s why I love connecting with #TeamRBC colleagues at events hosted by our NextGen Employee Resource Groups (ERG). Events like these are incredible networking and learning opportunities. It’s amazing to hear colleagues from so many different business lines talk about their career journey and learn about what they do every day to support our clients. It’s one of the great advantages of working for a global employer like RBC. My advice is simple: ☑ Find Your Why? What do you love to do? This guides every career decision you make. ☑ It’s not always a straight line. A lateral move can help develop new skills to prepare you for your next role ☑ Focus on being your very best in your job today and every day. Thank you NextGen ERGs colleagues in Barrie, Belleville and Ottawa regions and everyone involved in putting on these valuable sessions. #careers #mycompany
