As we enter #NAIDOCWeek, I am celebrating the rich history, diverse cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This week is an opportunity to honor the profound contributions that First Nations communities have made to our nation's past, present, and future. It is also a time to educate ourselves, to listen deeply, and to engage in meaningful conversations about reconciliation, equality, and justice. Events are great - let’s also take the time to think about how we can support Indigenous businesses, and learn about the traditions and customs that have shaped this land long before it was called Australia. By celebrating NAIDOC Week, we not only honor the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples but also strengthen the fabric of our national identity. Together, we can build a future that acknowledges and respects the invaluable contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. As we say at Women of Colour Australia, there is no justice without First Nations justice! So this NAIDOC Week, let's walk together, side by side, towards a more inclusive and united Australia. 🖤💛♥️ Don’t know where to start? Some of my recommendations are below: 💛Dr Summer May Finlay - researcher, educator and changemaker 💛 Authors Melissa Lucashenko (Mullambimby) and Chelsea Watego (Another Day in the Colony) 💛Rachelle Towart OAM - Indigenous recruitment powerhouse and advocate 💛Mundanara Bayles AFHEA MAICD - speaker and powerful training on antiracism 💛Aunty Munya Andrews - provides training on Allyship and accessible content to understand complex history 💛 Cherie Johnson - founded an organisation that delivers Aboriginal education. #NAIDOCWeek #Diversityandinclusion #listen #learn #reflect #reconciliation

🌍 Championing Indigenous Peoples' Rights: Embracing the UN Declaration 🌍 As we commemorate International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, I'm compelled to emphasize the profound significance of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). It's not just a document; it's a testament to our shared commitment to justice, equality, and the protection of the world's indigenous communities. The UNDRIP represents an essential milestone in recognizing the rights of Indigenous Peoples to self-determination, cultural preservation, and participation in decisions that affect their lives. It's a call to action for governments, organizations, and individuals worldwide to respect and uphold these fundamental rights. Let us remember that the true measure of a society's progress lies in how it respects and uplifts its most vulnerable members. Today, let's reaffirm our dedication to the principles of the UNDRIP and work tirelessly to ensure that Indigenous Peoples everywhere enjoy the full scope of their rights and opportunities. Together, we can create a world where justice, equality, and respect reign supreme. 🌟 #IndigenousPeoplesRights #UNDRIP #Justice #Equality #HumanRights #IndigenousRights #Community #Preservation #TruthandReconciliation Cadmus Delorme Sara Rayan Andre. 🌍 The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) was adopted by the General Assembly on Thursday, 13 September 2007. It is the most comprehensive international instrument on the rights of Indigenous peoples. ✊ The Declaration establishes a universal framework of minimum standards for the survival, dignity, and well-being of Indigenous peoples worldwide. It builds upon existing human rights standards and fundamental freedoms, specifically tailored to the unique situations of Indigenous peoples. 🤝 What makes the Declaration particularly significant is that Indigenous peoples, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, were actively involved in its drafting. 📅 Let's recognise the importance of the UNDRIP and its impact on Indigenous rights. Together, we can promote equality, respect, and justice for all. #UNDRIP #IndigenousRights #HumanRights #Equality #Respect #Justice #Aboriginal #TorresStraitIslander #OriginBusinessConsultants #OriginMob
