🚀I was wondering how staying in one job for an extended period can offer numerous advantages, leading to growth, success, and valuable opportunities for employees, sharing some of my thoughts- 📌 Longer tenures allow employees to develop deep expertise in their roles, mastering skills and knowledge specific to their field or industry. 📌Employees who demonstrate commitment and reliability are more likely to be considered for promotions, leadership positions, or special projects, fostering career advancement and professional growth. 📌Longevity in a job allows employees to build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders over time. 📌Long-term employees have access to ongoing learning opportunities, skill development programs, and career advancement resources, enhancing their employability and marketability. 📌Long-term employees have a deeper understanding of the organization's goals, challenges, and opportunities, enabling them to identify areas for innovation and improvement, which experience they can take further for better opportunities. It’s January, you know the drill 🚨 New year, new start, new job. Sometimes you’re just ready for something… well, new. But changing careers is a big decision and at Whitbread, we know the barriers that exist stopping you from applying. That’s why we look for life experience - not just work experience. The skills gained from simply living life are essential when it comes to hospitality. Mark Olajide-Akintunde, General Manager of George in the Tree Beefeater, says: “We’re made up of all sorts here, that’s our secret. I’ve got everyone from 16 to 60 and we all get on. “Everyone gets treated the same. Same pay, same perks, same opportunities no matter your age. “What I find with the older people in the team is they offer experience - they have seen change. It doesn’t alarm them. They’ve lived a life, they’ve lived through change, they adapt. It’s a real skill, leads to cool heads and calm decision makers. “I’d say the flexibility we offer is key. People have lives outside of work and they understandably need work to fit around them. The kinds of shifts we have can slot into any commitments they might have.” 👌 No matter what you were doing before, we’ll open the doors to our hotels and restaurants and welcome you on into a career with us – one with purpose, reward, and a few new friends. #ChangeYourStory with us at Whitbread https://lnkd.in/eyzwmxdb 💙 #WhitbreadCareers #HiringNow #HospitalityJobs #ChefJobs #NoBarriersToEntry

I help and inspire people around the world through professional training in Contact Centers, Customer Service & Customer Experience
When the Contact Center I worked for in the 90s hired its first Agents the recruiting Team didn't look for degrees or even Contact Center experience (which was still hard to come by in those early days). All the Agents hired in the first waves came in to us from McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut. Because they were used to talking to Customers. And that ability to talk was paramount. At the time as I was the VP of Finance and the then VP of Operations explained this as her rationale. And that was a terrific lesson for me. Eventually I become the VP of Operations (having a finance background was a big advantage). Five years in, the company was sold and the new owner shifted the Contact Center operation from Los Angeles to the East Coast. So we had to let go of everyone over the course of about 9 months. As we let people go and we had (tearful) rituals to see them out on their last day, a common theme came up in their last chat with me. It sounded like this: "Dan, I can talk. I can calm people down, I can sell, I can empathize, I can present a product & service...I can present myself. You all brought me in from Burger King. And now I'm heading out to be a Marketing Executive/Branch Manager/Customer Service Supervisor. Because my new Employer saw those skills & potential in me." I've never forgotten those words from the people who had been with us for so many years. On LinkedIn I'm still in touch with some of our former Employees from 30 years ago. When we remember that we help our people have great conversations with Customers - and grow their self-confidence and ability to communicate - we've done a terrific thing that's to be celebrated. #communication #skills #selfconfidence #career #memory #losangeles #heartlandmusic #vpfinance #vpoperations Marcus von Kloeden, CCXP OmniTouch International

Two months ago, I made the bold decision to leave behind the security of my full-time job and dive headfirst into an entirely new industry I knew nothing about. Let me share why Over the past 5 years, I worked my way up at a retail powerhouse you may recognize: BestBuy. Starting from a part-time customer service role, I eventually became an Experience Supervisor overseeing 35 employees in a big-box store generating over $1,000,000 in weekly revenue. During my time at BestBuy, I dedicated myself to continuous growth. From clocking 150 overtime hours to pursuing a college degree and participating in leadership development courses, I immersed myself in every opportunity for advancement. Among the many achievements and rewards, including top 1% company performance, fully paid vacation trips, and the privilege of meeting the CEO, Corrie Barrie, I also found fulfillment in mentoring and fostering the professional growth of my colleagues. Despite these accomplishments, I realized that to continue growing, I needed to embrace new challenges and pursue my ambitions beyond the retail industry. My aspirations include earning $1,000,000 in a year, homeownership, entrepreneurship, and making a positive impact on others daily. You can’t continue to grow unless you face new challenges every single day. A constant grind to continue the pursuit of learning and pushing yourself. Feeling comfortable leads to complacency. That said, I found myself feeling stagnant, eager to strike a new work-life balance and acquire new skills, leading me down a new path. As someone who’s always striving for growth and new challenges, I invite you to share your own experiences or goals in the comments below! Let's connect and inspire each other on our journeys to success! Remember, as Dory from Finding Nemo says, "Just Keep Swimming." Let's keep pushing forward together! 😎 #winnersmindset #dreambig #alwayslearning #careerdevelopment #worklifebalance #personalgrowth #newopportunities
