🍎 🍌 🍇 🍉 Find out how Rotterdam Fruit Wharf is transforming the fruit and vegetable sector with more efficient operations, increased productivity, reduced emissions and more benefits by making use of the Intercity Barge connection within Port of Rotterdam. In the latest article published by Joint Corridors Off-Road Peter van de Laar (Commercial Director) of Rotterdam Fruit Wharf explains how they realised the modal shift and how they could benefit from this in their daily operations. Since July last year, Rotterdam Fruit Wharf have already handled over 1.000 TEU by barge from the deepsea terminals to their barge connected location in Rotterdam. “This modal shift immediately brings major benefits, such as: avoiding landside bottlenecks at the deep sea terminals, improved sustainability, avoiding congestion on highways around Rotterdam, no more peak surcharges and other indirect cost savings” according to Peter van de Laar. A good showcase how barge also can be a suitable modality in case of more sensitive cargo flows and even on the short-distance! Here you can read the full success story: https://lnkd.in/esRjqfqK
