It’s not always given how you will start off your career. Before his internship, Simon hadn’t heard of Danone and did not know what the company did. He decided to research the company and saw two things that appealed him. First, working at a multinational company and second the opportunity to grow. “Be it local, regional, or global: growth opportunity comes with a high value to me. Being able to start your career after school and finding opportunities within Danone to move abroad and explore other parts of the world while maintaining a fun job, where you learn and grow, I think develops people” he explains. An internship and a master thesis later, Simon first moved into a fulltime position as Assistant Buyer for the Cycles & Procurement department in Danone Nordics and Baltics but has since then already grown into a new position as Junior Buyer. Not all colleagues are familiar with the work of the team and according to Simon, many become surprised to learn that C&P own all contracts with suppliers over a certain threshold. “This means that it is the team’s responsibility to track, source and manage these contracts for all countries within Nordics and Baltics”, he says.  Identifying improvements within a category, driving them forward and contract negotiation are some of the things that Simon really enjoys with his work. But it’s the people and culture that makes the difference. “For me, this plays a big role. When I joined Danone, I was surprised of how caring and kind-hearted people were. People believe in what they do and do their best in delivering on their goals, which is highly inspiring”, says Simon.  Many may doubt if there is such a thing as something that can make you happy going into the office everyday – but according to Simon there is: amazing products available to try every day. “I can’t stress this enough!” Simon says and continues, “I become happy going to the office knowing I have several great products to snack on all day!”. Three facts about Simon his colleagues may not know: 👨🎓 He wrote his master thesis on sustainability in the Swedish archipelago and the results led to an offer to become a full time PhD student.  ⛷ Simon is a vivid skier and has been doing it since the age of four – in addition also have a snowmobile license.  🏔 I hiked Kebnekaise last summer in crocs.  Thank you Simon, for sharing life at Danone 💙   #LifeatDanone #DanoneNordicsBaltics #proudtobeaDanoner
