Latin America is the fastest-growing region in terms of certification of palm oil production and continues to see tremendous growth potential. Countries like #Colombia and #Guatemala are leading this impressive growth. 🌏 All over the world, attention is growing for the risks that come with an excessive expansion of biomethane production. It is therefore all the more exciting that our report on the EU's dangerous biomethane ambition in the next decades is being widely distributed & discussed - across sectors! 🚀 Last week, we were delighted to be invited by the international Say No to LNG – Global Shipping Campaign and present our work. For us, it is clear that also most "waste-based" biomethane (for example from manure, or food "waste") is not sustainable. Rather, it.. 🐄perpetuates industrial livestock-farming, harming the climate, environment & animal welfare 🍌hinders food waste prevention efforts (contrary to the EU's current efforts to introduce the world's first binding food waste reduction targets) ⚡While biomethane, derived from unavoidable organic waste, can play a role in a sustainable "niche", the currently unhinged plans of the European Union simply won't do the trick. ⚓Thank you #SayNoToLNG for having us and for giving us diverse insights into your valuable work in the maritime sector.
